This episode had me angry at both Gaythi Ara and her son Daud ,is it inevitable that wealth makes a person cavalier and arrogant ? Daud’s suggestion that Nayab could move back into his room without a word of apology was disgusting and richly deserving of the sharp but dignified rejection given. “Main aap ko Yaad dilaoon, Main aik jeeta jagta insaan hoon aur mujhey itna bejaan na samjheykey main waqi be jaan ho jaoon”That one small speech was beautifully written and Urwa delivered it so well, making it one of the highlights of this episode. Nayab you had me at “nahi”.
Ahsan Khan and Urwa have just the right mix of interest and awkwardness for Daud and Nayab. They look good together and made this whole episode work perfectly .My only caveat had to be the scene where Daud is ahem , “helping” Nayab with her jewelry. I can only hope for more aesthetic ways of showing intimacy than this scene. Apart from that, Daud’s basic decency and kindness finally came shining through. He is that rare male protagonist who is not only self-aware but understands his mother’s complexes. He won’t allow Nayab to be mistreated and wants to break the vicious cycle perpetuated by his father’s family. Perhaps he is not such a bad a guy after all, no wonder Momina was so in love with him.
Something happened to the sound quality as Gaythi Ara finally apologized to Daud for separating him from Momina. This spoiled what would otherwise be an important part of the narrative. There could be no doubt this was a calculated move , she could not fail to see Daud softening towards Nayab and since it was Momina’s wedding day she felt safe enough. Sometimes characters in dramas make me ashamed to be a woman, and Gaythi Ara threatening Nayab made my hair stand on end with revulsion. I like to think of myself as a tough cookie but this had me in tears. Both Urwa and Saba Hamid were simply fabulous.
One of the few weak points in this drama is the lack of time spent on poor, mean, miserable Deeba , who cannot get a rishta because the entire universe knows she was engaged to Nasty Abdullah ….the one who started this cascade of dominoes. Well , these two self-absorbed queens of mean may well be getting back together again because, surprise !…….. despite being such a catch…. Abdulla is single again. So another twist to this riveting drama at least from the promos. Abdullah is kind of cute when he isn’t scowling who knows he might improve? He and Deeba look made for each other. Again apart from a few reservations team Marasim deserves a round of applause for keeping this fairly common story interesting and exciting.
