Kooki’s slurs weren’t effective in shaming Salahuddin and seeing the wasted state of Ifty’s father, he begged to stay. Kooki seized the opportunity to regain control of the household and demanded that Salahuddin would be working around the clock- during the day at the office and after work, he will be responsible for providing care to Ifty’s father. While it was heart-warming to see these two share a growing bond, it seems that the drama is stuck in a repeated loop. There’s been nothing substantial- Mannu is fine-tuning her act of faking it; Salahuddin is a perfect example of misery loving company- Talat Hussain is such a class act, I hope some of his flawless acting rubs off on Hamza Ali Abbassi who seems to be in a perpetual stupor. I think the reason I’m getting frustrated is because I adored him in Pyarey Afzal- I can’t seem to accept that he’s the same actor. His Salahuddin is such a hopeless attempt it makes him come across as a douchebag. I can’t feel a thing for him- when he pines for his lost love, he doesn’t seem sincere. In contrast, Maya Ali has poured her heart in soul into Mannu. Whether she’s masking her pain, creating excuses for her pathetic excuse of a husband, or simply staring away into oblivion, she’s completely nailed Mannu.
Gohar Rasheed’s Mikael offers nothing new. I hope they write him off soon. I have no interest seeing him grunt, scam, torture Mannu with his taunts- I want him gone! Poof! Disappear already! And take Ifty and Kooki with you, please and thank you. We’ve already seen 1/3 of the length of the serial and I’m really losing my patience with the lack of progression.
Mannu’s father’s tears didn’t move me one bit- this man treated his daughter like a huge liability and got her married to a guy he himself rejected! There’s absolutely no point crying over his poor decision-making abilities and telling Mannu she has a home! I think Mannu has accepted that she will continue living this life because not only Salahuddin but her family too let her down terribly. I don’t see what pleasure parents derive of forcing their decisions on their children and then reflecting upon them at a later stage. Salahuddin’s mom seemed far more concerned about Mannu than her family. They seem to be too preoccupied with patting themselves on their backs for their exceptional match-making skills.
If there’s a point to this drama, I’d really like to see it now. After seeing one insignificant episode after another, I really don’t see where it’s headed. As always the previews create more of an impact and I don’t know why they employ the strategy of leaving out the scenes in the actual episode. If that’s BTS footage, we really couldn’t care less. Or maybe just compile all the previews- they seem to pretty much save us the trauma of sitting through the length of the episode.
