While Man Jali is just soap, it introduces an interesting set of intelligent, spirited characters with intriguing depths.
Taimoor, the manipulative Casanova, with a mere sweep of his little finger has members of the opposite sex swooning at his feet. He is quite astute and intelligent in his manipulations. He comes across as a weak person when he misbehaves with Ramis, upon meeting him at Dr.Sidra’s apartment at her B’day party. He smears cake on Ramis’ face with stunned Annie and Sidra as spectators. He comes back to account this to Tooba, who masks her feelings. If she feels regret and repugnance at Taimoor’s callous behavior, she stoically does not reveal it. Taimoor counters his dad’s scheme of getting information from assistant Sweety by deluding her as the spurned husband, who loves his wife dearly. And claims that despite all his love, his wife (Tooba) is pining away for Ramis. Taimoor has been quite indifferent to Tooba post-marriage and takes pleasure in wielding power over her. He directs her to not visit her mother’s place.
Taimoor’s parents start realizing that perhaps they have spoilt their son.
Will Tooba continue to be the self-sacrificing, subservient wife turning a blind eye to Taimoor’s infidelity? Will Taimoor undergo a transformation and begin to appreciate Tooba for her steadfastness ? The subtle undercurrents portrayed in Man Jali makes me want to see how the story unfolds over the next few weeks.
