What to expect but riots, when an uninvited guest called, Akhtar arrives at the noisy household of the constantly bickering couple Akhtar Miyan & Fakhri Begum and their three beautiful daughters, Mehreen, Shaheen & Yasmin.
All the three girls put on their best efforts to gain the younger Akhtar’s affection in their own individual ways. Mehreen being the eldest, tries her way through cooking tasty dishes for him during Seher & Iftaar, although she’s already engaged to someone who works in a chemical acid factory.
Shaheen, tries to be bold and sensous just like the lead heroine of her novel, ‘Badmaash Hasina‘ as she tries charming him. She is by far, the most comic character in the play and the one with the best lines. She is although bethrothed to Rufi, also wants to keep all her options open with Akhtar and if given a chance wouldn’t hesistate to run away with him.
And, the youngest one, Yasmin tries reverse pyschology with him. She ensures to make life difficult for him every single day, even if that means going to the newspaper office to change, Miyan Ji’s astrological horoscope. Thus, making sure that he’s now unwelcome in their household.
Akhtar is by far having the best time of his life. With the utmost attention of all the females in the house, he’s now able to pick the best of the lot for his future partner. So far, it seems like he’s into Yasmin.
The plot thickens further when you have such nosy neighbours like Fazeela Batool and Chaudhry Ramzan, who is also their landlord. Fazeela Batool, the motor-mouth of the neighbourhood, has also suddenly developed an interest in Akhtar ever since Shaheen & Mehreen have teamed up against Yasmin.
Fakhri Begum who does not like Akhtar one bit and is fully aware of her daughters being interested in him, decides to get him thrown out of the house. Just when Fakhri’s about to get the fruits of her hard-earned labour, we see the entry of Bilqees Khanum aka Akhtar’s mother & Miyan Ji’s ex-fiancee.
What happens next? Which one of three will she choose for her son? Or will Akhtar & Bilqees have different opinions? How will Fakhri and Bilqees react with each other now?
My only suggestion would be to the writer, to ensure that none of the tracks are repeated and there is original content to the maximum. We shouldn’t follow others, but make our own path instead. The character of the Bua, we saw recently played by Asma Abbas, not only had similar lines but also similar mannerisms just like Saima Chaudhry on another channel. This was a massive turn off for me.
So far, the drama is going very well. The comedy is also not slapstick which is yet again quite a relief. The characters are very much relatable and the actors are doing quite a commendable job. Especially, when you have stalwarts like Behroze Sabzwari & Sakina Samoon leading the younger lot of Ahsan Khan, Aiza Khan, Mehreen Raheal & Arij Fatyma, there’s bound to be alot of excitement guaranteed. With the recent entry of Saba Faisal, we have more reason looking forward to it.
The production values are high, just as expected from an MD Productions serial, and the direction by Siraj-ul-Haque is definitely something thats surely making waves and the editing is just perfect. The OST which was released recently is also very catchy and the background score is rightly used in most places. Overall, its a well-packaged entertainer with all the ingredients of a blockbuster.
If situational comedy is your cup of tea, then this one’s definitely for you.
