Today was the first time EVER that I switched the channel during the airing of Kuch Pyar Ka Pagalpan and started to watch Mora Piya.
Yes, even a die-hard fan like me found today’s episode irksome to say the least – and not because Mujtaba and Daneez got engaged.
In the first half, the story barely moved forward as Mujtaba concocted more lies for Kiran and Kiran’s family mocked her about him.
In the second half, the pace picked up and suddenly, towards the end of the episode, we see Daneez in a wedding dress. First I thought even she was just picking and choosing. However, in the last scene, when she begged Shimraiz to attend the event, I realized it is really a wedding. What is going ON?
I honestly feel all the confrontational scenes between Kiran and her family could have been drastically reduced. Same goes for the extremely long scenes between Daneez and Mujtaba. I don’t blame Mujtaba for getting irriated because Daneez was annoying me. Yes, I do think Taimoor Chacha did exactly what he should have done and for one second, even I thought he had done this to scare off Daneez. But Daneez’s reaction was so – no other word for it – irritating. The way she kept laughing and saying: “Hum budget par laray gain” was pathetic. I even felt sorry for her because Mujtaba (it is rather clear now) has absolutely NO feelings for her whatsoever. He wanted a shortcut to success and he has realized he will not get it through his cousin. And there is no way out because Taimoor Chacha has already warned him he will sue if he steps out of line with Daneez.
And Kiran…honestly, I feel sorry even for her. Didn’t she realize what was going on? But then, maybe she did not want to accept it. How much more in a denial can you get? You see Daneez all over Mujtaba and he doesn’t seem barely interested in you, and you still think he will get it sorted in your favour? I agree with Samira ji that she does not have a choice and has laid all her cards on the table, but I had taken her character to be so strong and apparently, (understanding from the promos) she is in for a bad time.
Shimraiz is the only character who still amuses me. The way he said: “Kissi nay meri dulhan chura li tou main nay socha main bhee kissi ki dulhan chura loon” was such an awww-going statement. Yes, I feel for him, too. He’s self-centered no doubt, but at least he is sincere in his love for Daneez (in stark contrast to Mujtaba’s materialistic “love”).
And Mujtaba – a list of flowery words are at the tip of my tongue. I best not write anything about him.
Overall, the acting was EXCELLENT! The direction was much better. But the editing, as usual, sucked majorly. Kiran’s hairstyle is still a mystery, Daneez was looking all dishevelled in her wedding dress in one scene and beauty-parlour-dressed in the other, and the wedding scene came a little too soon after the engagement, without ANY transition scene between the two.
Oh, and how come Taimoor Chacha talked about the “terms” during the engagement ceremony, and not before? And, I thought he asked Mujtaba to search for a new job and house the very next day after his engagement. No scene showed Mujtaba moving out or looking for another job. There was no discussion of any either. So how come there was a wedding?
The episode has ended at an interesting point, but honestly, thanks to the OST, at least I can make a pretty good guess about what is going to happen next week.
