Episodes 3 and 4 of Koi Nahi Apna were exactly the way every one thought they would be. Hamza and Alvira get married against her parents’ wishes, they cut her off financially and she goes to her in laws without any jahez. Obviously the lack of any jahez totally pissed off Hamza’s mum as had she known this would happen she would have insisted he marry her bhanji so “‘ghar jahez se bhar jaata kyoon ke yeh reet hai…” What a fantastic reet where one is dependent on another person’s finances and to live their own life. I wonder when this sick mentality will change in the Desi house holds? Waise to everyone has so much ‘ana,’ but when it comes to jahez, everyone gladly takes it…us waqt sab ki ana mar jati hai. We copy so many things from the west that we shouldn’t, perhaps its time to copy the good…where the people getting married pay for their own wedding, instead of burdening their parents and the concept of jahez is unknown!
Anyways, Alvira is doing really well as a stay at home wife in her new life minus the luxuries she is used to. Her mother-in-law however makes no bones about how she (Alvira) doesn’t know how to cook or anything else. Typical saas mentality. Six months into their marriage, Alvira is expecting (shocking) and her mother in law is finally happy, for a few minutes. Hamza is less than thrilled at first as they aren’t very sound financially. but comes around. He starts working late so he can get a promotion and Alvira feels neglected…when its time to go to the hospital the maid takes her as Hamza is at work. They are blessed with a baby girl. Episode 5 will show us her how (un) happy Hamza’s mum will be about a beti being born and not a beta. I’m hoping I’m wrong though!
I’m not sure how many different ways I can say how predictable this story is. The good thing is that dialogues are very simple. Sana Fahad gets an A for that. Acting wise, everyone is excellent from Sajid Hasan to Sarwat, and Fahad. Everyone comes off extremely natural and Fahad and Sarwat have excellent on screen chemistry. Direction is also good and the background music is fantastic!
Till next time…
