The eighth episode of Khuda Dekh Raha Hai was a ‘threshold episode’ as it marked the end of the rosy romance between Junaid and Zoya and offered us a glimpse into the nightmarish life that awaits Zoya in the coming episodes. As expected, Zoya succumbs to the decision of a fake Isthikara and decides to meet Junaid for the last time to bury her relationship forever. Junaid, who is totally oblivious of Zoya’s intentions eagerly waits to meet her at the restaurant. Zoya finally informs him about her decision of ending their relationship and after the Grave dressing exits the restaurant, leaving Junaid totally heart broken and dejected. For Junaid , Zoya is not an ordinary love but his world. He values her more than anything else in his life and cannot imagine losing her like this. On the other hand, Khalida is seen quite perturbed because of her lie about Isthikhara .
She knows very well deep in her heart that she has played a very dangerous game with her daughter’s life. Despite all the confusion and commotion, Adnan’s family arrives at Zoya’s place to finalize the engagement and set the date for their marriage. Adnan is doing what he should be doing without any feelings involved. Keeping in view his behaviour and a character, it is not difficult to predict the mess; Zoya is being pushed into by her mother and her brother. Though Zoya is completely shattered by her mother’s decision, but she maintains her calm and composure throughout the episode, which was extremely irritating. More than Adnan, it is Moeez’s character which is really hateful. He is least affected by his sister’s ordeal and is knowingly pushing her in to the hell.
For me the best thing about this play is the fact that it is so real. Nothing is made up or overly exaggerated. Every character is close to life and relatable, be it Zoya’s helpless dad or Adnan’s conniving family. However, the only character that has failed to gain my sympathy so far is Zoya’s character. Her blind submission to her mother’s decision is just not acceptable, no matter how big the reason is. Sajjal Ali is no doubt doing justice to her role but the character itself is so weak that so far it has failed to leave an impact. Junaid’s friend’s disdain for Zoya is quite justified as she very conveniently leaves Junaid after putting both his career and life in jeopardy. Agha Ali as Junaid completely stole the show this time. I mean what a brilliant onscreen portrayal of a heartbroken lover. For me, the vividness of Agha Ali’s portrayal of Junaid has made the play come alive for its viewers.
Bushra Ansari as Khalida was again brilliant. Oh, yes, its brilliant soundtrack touches your soul in every way and no one could have sung it better than Agha Ali himself. He is not only a good actor but can prove to be an asset for our music industry in the coming years. I find his voice absolutely mesmerizing.
In conclusion, it was a smooth episode. The focus was more on characters’ emotions and the battles they are fighting within themselves. I just can’t wait to watch its next episode.
