Khuda Aur Mohabbat S2 Episode 1 Review

Khuda Aur Muhabbat; the name says it all! Hashim Nadeem’s famous novel, directed by our very own Anjum Shehzad and the melodious OST sung by evergreen Ahmad Jahanzeb has finally hit your screens after five years. The expectations from this sequel are enormous and people are anticipated to see their favourite cast once again.

The first episode begins with intense dialogues about love and God. People who have ever been in love know what’s coming, but suffice it to say, this is only the beginning of a long, intense, and powerful ride.

Azal se abad tak ke liye dil mein chhuba ek kaanta- muhabbat, kehte hain taqdeer aasmano pe likhi jaati hai tou kya taqdeer bananay wala Khuda bhi iska dushman hai? Har insaan ke dil mein Khuda aur Muhabbat ki jang jaari rahi’.

Imran Abbas as Hammad, makes his way as a carefree guy with no sense of responsibility, spoiled brat having the time of his life on the streets of Houston at night with his university friends. We are also introduced to Molvi Saahb’s (Firdous Jamal) household, including his wife and two daughters Imaan and Haya, followed by their lovely bond throughout the episode. The scene drifts to Maddy’s family where we get an insight of his parents and brother. This first episode introduced the viewers to almost all the characters that we will be seeing in the play. I must admit that when the drama began I wasn’t much into the character of Imaan because I thought Sadia Khan was a wrong choice for  it but I am glad as the story is progressing Imaan is proving me wrong. I love how Molvi Aleemuddin household depicts tehzeeb and adab o lehaaz, baap-beti scenes, some sweet moments, some overwhelming ones and a few bits that bring a smile to the face.

Judging from the first episode, Khuda aur Muhabbat looked like a drama that would give the viewers food for thought and a really good lesson. This sequel is basically the whole novel in one go. To be honest, I tuned in purely for Imran Abbas- his dramas are usually a visual delight and leave a mark. The characters are very well chosen. The story line is interesting and looks promising. Oh and, the background music is worth a mention too, melodious and thankfully not loud. I am not exaggerating if I say none of the dramas has gained the immense popularity that Khuda aur Muhabbat earned. This drama has fans all over the world and many credit it with reviving the Pakistani drama industry.

As the story moves forward, it is a completely different experience altogether. Let’s see what the next episode has in store for us.
