This episode turned out to be straight from some typical Indian saas-bahu serial. Mother and daughter duo were busy plotting against their new bahu and bahu’s father is busy thinking of ways of getting his daughter divorced as she had committed a grave mistake by marrying someone from middle class background.
Episode 6 saw a lot of things happening, Soni and her mother are unhappy with their brother and son’s choice of girl respectively, even the younger brother starts behaving like a typical woman when he is with his mother and sister. Of course, Araiz’s mother allowed him to marry Ishal after giving in the immense pressure she faced from her youngest offspring thinking that a rich bahu = truckloads of dowry. I do agree the treatment meted out to Araiz and his family at the walima was very wrong but that doesn’t mean they will plot against Ishal and make her life hell. To add to her woes, an aunty from the neighbourhood comes over to put ghee in jalti hui aag. I seriously dislike such kind of aunties, have seen tons of them here in India too! Khud ke ghar mein khush nahi rehti hai aur dusron ke gharon mein aag bhadkaane aa jaati hain. Honestly, right from the beginning I have never understood Soni’s problem, I agree she is immature but come on abhi se itni chaalak hai, toh sasural mein pata nahi kya gul khilayegi? And the mother is actually SO stupid, instead of discouraging her behaviour she cannot help but give in to her unreasonable demands. Amidst all this, I was actually surprised to see Ishal being mature and not making the situation worse however it’s true that the mother-daughter duo has taken this personally but that’s a different thing for now. I thought Ishal would go crazy and complain to Araiz but nope she chose to remain silent and instead speak with her father and try to fix the problem.
I think it was a huge slap on Ishal’s arrogant father’s face when he assumes that Ishal has requested him to send a driver because she wants to leave Araiz but for something else, a tradition that wasn’t followed at all. What also brings me a sigh of relief is Rehbar invisible support for Ishal. He may have never been on very great terms with her but at least he is standing up for her against his father-in-law because he knows his father-in-law’s nature. And even his wife is pretty immature but yeah we saw a slightly different side to her when she defends her husband in front of her father so yes, their track is equally interesting.
I am glad to see Araiz not treating her wrong after what happened at the walima. And I am totally totally totally loving Ahsan Khan as Araiz also because he reminds me of a very close pal of mine. I loved the suhaagraat gift he made for Ishal, tbh, I did find her behaviour a little childish when Araiz tells her that he forgot her wedding night present maybe because I have never experienced such a thing in my life but then he gave her a very sweet present with something sweeter written inside it so I guess all is well that ends well. I am so excited to see more of their romantic moments. :D
As I have mentioned before, I am FINALLY loving Ahsan Khan as Araiz, he fits the bill perfectly. Mehwish Khan needs to put in more effort but yeah she wasn’t that bad in the episode, direction was good too.
