\” Museebat Kabhi Akailay Nahi Aati \”, three weeks after her mother\’s death; Manaal\’s father died in a road accident.
As she was still trying to get back to normal life, tragedy struck again and this time left Manaal an orphan. Manaal didn\’t even have a shoulder to cry on till her phoppo came. And then started the journey which took Manaal from her own home to becoming a sort of a refugee at her phoppo\’s.
The story only progressed to the point where Manaal enters her aunt\’s house and ends up living in the store room. But in this episode we found out why Salaiha and her family hate Karim and his family so much. It turns out Karim was engaged to Saliha for 6 years and broke his engagement just days before the wedding because he had fallen for Naila. Because the wedding was called off at the eleventh hour, Saliha did not receive any other proposals either since her reputation had been stained, or so she says. Years have passed but Saliha has still neither forgiven nor forgotten. Now, she is bent upon getting even with Karim and Naila by making their daughter\’s life miserable.
Family politics was at its peak. Saliha\’s heart is filled with poison and if she is not happy with her life, she will make sure no one else is happy with theirs. Her bhabi has left her brother to please Saliha, her brother Liaquat is constantly fighting with Shabnam just to please her but Saliha has decided to let her spinsterhood overshadow her entire life. The actress playing Saliha has always appeared in very sober, mature roles; playing the role of Saliha with a completely different look is a good change. I am loving her over the top look with the heavy makeup, jewellery and bright color dresses. She tries to play the victim but her look says otherwise :). She is using this one excuse to dominate and control everyone and it\’s working. I must say she is very smart, she knows this excuse isn\’t gonna win her, her nephew\’s sympathies so she tries to be a completely different person in his presence.
Shabnam is a responsible and sensible phoppo but her life isn\’t exactly a bed of roses. After Karim refused to marry her NAND, her position at her own home became very insecure. She has been forced to cut all ties with her brother and even then she is constantly facing taanay from her saas, NAND and shohar. Although she tries to put on a brave face and advises Manaal not to let Saliha and her mom get to her, she herself is still not able to be confident in their presence.
We get to see so many dramas based on love stories. Some where the guy cheats on the girl and vice versa, others where they eventually beat all odds and end up together and live happily ever after. But hardly ever, do we get to see the affects of love marriages in the long run. Faiza Iftikhar is doing just that, showing us the consequences of love marriages which apparently look like success stories. The children of such parents, like Manaal in this case are deprived of the love of both the maternal and paternal families and in extreme circumstances, don\’t have anyone to turn to.
After Naila\’s death, her father who is still unaware of her sudden demise is missing her. His sixth sense is telling him, something isn\’t right. We still didn\’t get to see Diam but again through a telephonic conversation, we are given the idea that he is someone who is trusted by Minaal\’s nana and he is a responsible and genuine person.
By the way things are looking right now, I have a feeling Minaal will not be able to live at her phoppo\’s home for long and she will have to get in contact with her maternal family side soon. When that happens, again it will be interesting to see if she is welcome in their house or not.
