No matter how hard a young, orphan girl tries to be brave and independent, our society dosen\’t give her much of a choice. She isn\’t given the right to keep her head up and live her life with dignity. At every corner, there are more people to please, more rules to follow, more hardships and more compromises. This is the story of Manaal\’s life.
The young, bright girl who once aspired to be a doctor is now being treated like a common house maid, even worse than that. At least maids get paid and are tolerated if not respected, Manaal is deprived of even that. She has to work for shelter and 2 waqt ka bachha khucha khana. As if that wasn\’t enough, Shabnam\’s entire family is hell bent upon making Manaal\’s life a nightmare. She is now being asked or rather threatened to compromise on her respect and dignity if she is to survive at her phoppo\’s house.
If it wasn\’t for Shabnam\’s character, life would seem absolutely hopelessly for Manaal. She keeps encouraging her to turn a deaf year to Saliha and her mother and move on with her life. Stay focussed and keep going but it is easier said than done. Manaal is a girl for whom self respect comes first and foremost. She can stay hungry, listen to Saliha\’s never ending taunts and taanay but now she is facing Shujat and his unwanted attention. Up till now, Manaal was absolutely sure, she would never ask her nana for anything but now to save herself from Shujat, she is willing to contact Hamdaan Shah. Let\’s hope she does cause frankly, I just can\’t stand that phoppo-bhatija duo. I donot understand their relationship with eachother either. I know Saliha is only using her nephew but In the last episode Shujat was trying to play the hero when he told Manaal \” main apni phoppo is aankhoon main Aanso nahi daikh sakta \” and today he didn\’t care if his phoppo was creating another melodramatic scene. I have a feeling they are all the same.
Saliha is a full fledge, bonafied vamp. I mean, she is suffocating Manaal, every chance she gets. Whether it is starving her, constantly reminding her that her mother eloped with her father, turning off the lights when Manaal is studying or making her clean up the entire house by herself, no pain inflicting opportunity is too petty for her, every week she stoop to new lows. She is a bitter woman, who is out to take revenge and we know \” Hell has no fury like a woman scorned \” or in this case a woman dumped a few days before the wedding .
Liaquat is an illiterate, stupid man who seemed quite harmless as compared to his family but now, we get to see another side of his character. The man is just as evil as the rest of his family. As soon as he found out about Manaal\’s rich nana, his attitude changed. I was thinking maybe he was intimidated but no, Liaquat has other plans. He wants to cash this situation and ask Hamdaan Shah to pay him millions. Again in this episode I really feel for Shabnam, all her life she had to put up with her horrid inlaws but the ordeal dosen\’t seem like it\’s ever gonna end and the worst part is, her own son dosen\’t care about his mother\’s suffering. No matter what she does, it\’s never good enough for them.
Hamdaan Shah on the other hand was shaken by Manaal\’s questions and therefore asked Diam to inquire about the girl. Let\’s just hope Diam can get the results soon and Hamdaan Shah can come to Manaal\’s rescue. Coming to Diam, once again he got limited screen time but we saw, he enjoys a good relationship with Hamdaan Shah. He manages his business, reads to him, discusses the family matters with him and takes care of his health. All in all, he is genuinely a good guy.
I like the pace, we are not getting bored and at the same time we get to see everything in detail. Every transition comes smoothly and the characters are all very relatable, we understand why they are who they are. Plus, all the actors are doing a wonderful job. I am waiting to see Hamdaan Shah\’s reaction when he learns who Manaal really is and if he would come to her rescue. Another interesting thing would be Lisquat\’s reaction if HS comes to take Manaal with him. Liaquat is expecting to get at least 30 to 40 lacs out of this situation, I wonder if he would be able to get it. I am hoping Hamdaan Shah would put this family in their rightful place, though. Kuch to sakoon aayey ga is tarah :)
