Manaal was finally able to reach her nana\’s house. Thank God, she got away from Saliha , her wicked mother and Shujat. But unfortunately all is still not well, now she has to face her mean mamani and her evil sister.
I have to give Faiza Iftikhar credit, it\’s like the lady can read our minds :). 7 episodes down and we haven\’t seen any dragging what so ever. Last week, when Diam was trying to explain to Hamdaan Shah about who Liaquat was and why was he calling, HS kept on saying he was not interested in knowing anything about Naila. Now had this been any other drama, that one point could have been dragged for weeks but thank God, Faiza resolved that issue in one scene. Again today, when Manaal and Shabnam were kicked out of HS\’s house, they could have been left wandering the streets of Karachi for days and HS could have had a heart attack just to drag this issue and get a few more episodes out of it but no. Faiza resolved the matter there and then, so a big Thank You Faiza Iftikhar for reading our minds and giving us a quality, fast pace serial :)
Ok, so let\’s start with Manaal\’s journey. I thought Shujaat would not let Shabnam and Manaal leave but thank God, he is not that big a jerk. If you get the guy away from his dad and dadihaal, you can talk some sense into him after all…hmmmm. We got to see this slightly different side of Shujaat\’s character today, he is under the influence of his dadi and Phoppo and because of that we always get to see his extreme negative side but today not only did he not try to stop Manaal but for the very first time, he actually took a stand for his mother. That was refreshing.
I really admire how most of the characters in KKG are grey. They are so relatable and realistic. we saw Shujaat in a different light tody and also we got to see Baila, Manaal\’s cousin. Unlike her mother she is a sweet and honest person who is a bookworm, a girl whose mother actually has to tell her to take a break from her studies, imagine that. And then there is Joya. Last week someone said Sundas is in a negative character but honestly, so far I haven\’t seen any negative behavior from Joya. She is independent, out spoken and unlike her mother she does not like spending her time in plotting and planning against her family and trying to think of ways to impress her future inlaws. It was again so refreshing so see a young girl who is not chasing after a rich guy. She is who she is and she is certainly not apologetic about it. Her mother is constantly reminding her how she should be grateful that her Khala is willing to accept her as her daughter in law but Joya isn\’t the subservient kind. Like I said, refreshing :)
Ok, now coming to my most favorite part of the entire episode :) that one dialogue between Manaal and Diam…haiiiiiiiiii. We have all heard the saying \” less is more \”, that was exactly the case. After a tiring and strenuous journey Manaal was both physically and mentally exhausted and still to show her gratitude and express her relief she summed it all up in that one sentence and Diam\’s reply consisted of just one simple word. Being the hopeless romantic that I am, that one scene put a big smile on my face :). I can\’t even wait for Manaal and Diam\’s track to start now.
Hamdaan Shah\’s reaction after finding out about Naila\’s death was just heartbreaking. He was going to meet his daughter and was secretly hoping that maybe he would have a chance to start over but fate had other plans. The poor man ended up putting a grave stone on his daughter\’s grave. His reaction at meeting his granddaughter was something I wasn\’t expecting. He didn\’t show any emotion. He has not on talking terms with his dughter but after knowing about her death, I was hoping he would be sympathetic towards his granddaughter. But I guess it would take him some time to come out of his shell. Specially since he has been living among his selfish and self center children, it would take him some time to get to know Manaal and from there on, it would be easier for him to like her and express his feelings for her.
Now for next week. I am scared for Shabnam, when she gets back home her husband and inlaws would definitely not be giving her a warm welcome. In their minds, she has cost them a fortune and they won\’t let her off the hook. I am also a bit nervous for Manaal. Her mamaani and Rahat would not let her feel at home. But it would be interesting to see Manaal bond with Baila and I would like to see what happens between Manaal and Joya.
So, do share your thoughts.
