WoaHH what a come back episode this was…totally makes up for the lack of drama last couple episodes.
So, Kash (Kahsif) is the creep that called asking for Salma at the Salon…he is also Tai Jee’s bhanja. We also meet her recently jail-returned husband, Sikander (Ali Kazmi). Dead beat dad and clearly an abusive husband. Seemed so calm and collected in the beginning, even Salma was surprised, but shows his true colors closer to the end. No wonder Iman seemed to scared of him. Even the usually confident Salma seemed scared. Apparently he was jailed in Wisconsin for 2 years but got out early due to good behavior. The jerk declares no more dance classes for Iman (because it is equal to her marrying a gora) and she isn’t allowed to ask about his comings and goings. Apparently Iman was 3 when Salma got married to Sikander and now she’s about 11-12? I can’t imagine the life Salma must have had the last 7-8 year! Why do some parents do this? Why do they marry their daughters off to good for nothing men as if the daughter is a burden? WHY? I’m guessing Salma’s parents were lied to by her Tai Jee showing them dreams about a great American life. This infuriates me to no end and I can so much, but will spare the audience!
Moving to Bhatti Saheb…Noman Ejaz gets a grammy for being the most annoying person in this drama. The couldn’t care less about his wife, but buys a purse for Salma and guilt trips her into accepting it. Zabardasti ka tauhfa. All I can say is ‘Restraining Order!!” And why does he keep saying Aliya Baji? Bechari is probably at least 10 years younger than him. Noman Ejaz owns Bhatti as the creepy stalker guy. He also apparently didn’t pay David the $1500 for the pipes and instead used that money for Jamshed’s rent. No wonder Kathy Bhabi is always upset. Her husband stalks and flirts with married women and is a highly irresponsible husband and father. Having said all of that, in Salma I think he sees a version of himself, lonely and just trying to live day by day. They are developing an equation of their own and I’m guessing it will lead to many many problems ahead.
Speaking of Jamshed, he has moved into Michelle’s rented room. Goesto Baltimore to see some Khalid Bhai who apparently has stores and promised him a job if he ever got to the US. The surprised and a bit rude Khalid Bhai gives him a $100 and Jamshed chooses to make a Ispectacle of himself by trying to beat him up. Umm, really? Is that really how things work? Calls Nani to talk but can’t help crying so calls Nadir, who has been smitten by Aasma. The 2Am ‘meine aapko disturb to nahi kya’ cheesy lines translate into a proposal being sent to an already engaged Aasma. Oh and Aasma is clearly happy. Nadir ki niyyat shuru se he kharab thi I think.
Michelle and Rizwan just seemed like background noise in this episode. This was a great episode and things are seemingly moving forward. As always acting is top notch along with direction. Ali Kazmi is a great addition as Sikander. The person in charge of randomly playing those beautiful urdu tracks in the salon gets a thumbs up. As always, great job team Jackson Heights!
