Mubarak ho…after being insulted by Mamo and Mami constantly, almost giving up and actually crying, Jamshed’s passport is her with the ever so famous, ‘Amreekan visa’ stamped on it…for 6 months. No surprise really since we had seen in the trailers that this was going to happen. On the congratulatory note, Imran Bhatti’s immigration interview letter has also arrived. Of course with a totally irate wife, we’ll see how that goes. I’m guessing making breakfast for the kids might not actually make up for being irresponsible; and I’m guessing, once ‘Kathy Bhabi’ finds out about his growing equation with Salma, he might be on a plane back to Pakistan. At some point though, he has to be thinking, is the life he is living really worth it? What has he really accomplished in New York for the 15+ years he has been living here? Another thing I don’t get is why he is still driving a cab? If he is married to an American citizen, he gets a work permit right away, even if his green card process takes years. Driving a cab can’t be his ambition for life so what gives?
What else do we learn in this episode? We learn that Haseena Beauty parlor still hasn’t discovered twitter and/or facebook and is advertising the ‘do number’ way by having Bhatti Saheb pass out flyers to his passengers in the cab. I did enjoy the ‘pride of do number wala kaam’ that Bhatti had…he felt straight at home.
On the Rizwan and Michelle front, we learn that Rizwan’s sister Taniya is coming. He takes Michelle shopping to set up his guest room. Not only that she is also there making lunch for them when he arrives with Taaniya. The SRK shout-out was pretty great…thanks Vasey for that :) Clearly his sister in no fool and straight up asks him where things are going with Michelle. We learn that Rizwan actually had an Italien girlfriend, Sophia who apparently rejected him. We also learn that Michelle has been divorced for 15 years. Michelle and Taaniya seem to hit it off great, which made Rizwan very happy. What confuses is me is how Rizwan and Taaniya are from Mumbai, yet neither have a mumbai accent…its pure Pakistani urdu? Oh and I agree, the little bit of white hair looks very graceful on Adnan Jaffer :)
This really was the entire 3rd episode. To me honestly speaking, it didn’t make such an impact as the first two episodes. That however isn’t surprising as there is so much more to come, so I’m hoping episode 4 will be better.
Points for the fabulous city shots…absolutely loved them. Again, direction and acting is completely up to par. No complaints there. Editing has considerably improved by now.
Lets see what episode 4 has to bring.
