Jackson Heights is being wrapped up and I must say I’m a bit sad. Even with the few episodes that were slow, dramas like this and Goya are a rarity between the crying and mazloom women, evil step mothers/in laws, sacrificial lambs, sisters, and now the newest trend, doosri biwi(s). Vasay and Mehreen get full marks for coming up with something that isn’t just different, but realistic and also intelligent. God knows when we will see something with actual substance again!
We start with Rizwan and Michelle. Rizwan tells her that he understands Adnan’s decision and why he left. He would probably have reacted the same way had this happened to him. He also tells her that he is very surprised at her new status of relationship. Rizwan is clearly on to Jamshed. Thank God! later on we see how curious Jamshed is about Rizwan’s reaction to the relationship. The next day upon hearing that Rizwan had once proposed to Michelle, for the first time Rizwan gets a bill at the diner…bad move buddy. Good thing Michellle sees it and grills Jamshed, who keeps stirring the pot and makes himself out to be the victim. Someone please shake Michelle and get some sense into her!!! I do think that perhaps Michelle is finally starting to see Jamshed’s insecurities and jealousy. I absolutely love Adnan Jaffer as Rizwan. He has the grace, the sophistication, the suavity one might say, needed to portray Adnan. Him and Marina Khan have great chemistry in this drama and I hope to see them together again.
On Salma/Sikander/Bhatti/Kathy fronts, I love the new confident Salma…I was ecstatic when she told Kash to Shut up…(saath mein thappar bhi hota to maza ajata). I also love how she has been schooling Tai Jee lately…and she is right, if it were someone else, she would totally have thrown all of them out. Per Tai Jee bhi dheet hain…the taanaas don’t end, ever! That Salma too is surprised at her growth and confidence and the way she was boasting about it to Alya is further proof of how Amina Sheikh is a superb actor. Salma realizes this is Bhatti’s doing, who by the way is there for threading. (As a side note, it was nice to see a guy go through the pain of threading waise). I know we were supposed to find cute that entire track of her threading Bhatti while they have that conversation, but I still say I don’t trust Bhatti, and yes I know, I am in the minority. Kathy is adamant she isn’t going to let Bhatti go that easily. let’s see what happens with the immigration appointment.
Skander confronts Salma and tells her he will free her and even if she marries Bhatty, she can see Iman. Umm, Salma after all these years, you are still falling for this jerk and his lies? Please don’t as he has already ordered an illegal gun to finish off Bhatti. Watching Ali Kazmi portray the sleazy and ghatya Sikander is pretty amazing. Usually I am not a big fan of negative characters and don’t really give them the time of the day. But Sikander changed all of that. I actually look forward to seeing him on screen…I’m even willing to tolerate Kash with him, who by the way can not play a mean character to save his life. You sir have a very innocent face, please don’t try such characters again.
Another Great episode by team Jackson Heights. Fabulous job everyone!
