So I don’t really know who this episode belongs to…is it Amina Sheikh who absolutely excelled as the scared, helpless Salma getting beat up by her completely crazy and obnoxious husband? Is it Ali Kazmi, who portrays her completely obnoxious husband to a tee? Or does it go to Vasay and MJ for the excellent script and direction? Kash sees Salma and Bhatti at the park and obviously reports it to Sikander. The trio of Kash, Sikander, and Tai Jee are waiting outside for Salma and confronting her about her boyfriend, Bhatti. That scene has to have been ‘the scene of the serial.’ I wanted to get into youtube and slap Sikander, Ali Kazmi was that good. He creeps me out as Sikander…. I would not trust him with a bag of M&Ms. MJ deserves an Oscar for how she shot the scene, making it look like it was happening not on screen, but in front of my eyes. Not only did I want to slap Sikander, but also Kash and Tai Jee for continuing to instigate the matter. The only adult was Iman who actually did call 911 on her so called ‘father.’ Salma did seem to have grown stronger from that episode…I loved how she schooled Tai Jee the next morning after her holier than thou attitude towards Salma.
Bechare Imran Bhatti I think is now going to be in some more immigration trouble after he confesses to his wife that he loves Salma…a love she (Kathy) can’t understand. Here’s a question Bhatti, do you understand it and do you understand what can happen to you now? I say Kathy, kick him to the curb. As soon as he gets that passport, he is gone!
Speaking of someone trying to get an American passport, Jamshed I believe thinks he is still in Pakistan the way he treated his cousin in the restaurant. “Hum kutton ko serve nahi karte hain.” Then he gets all high and mighty with the supervisor, threatening to fire him if he intervenes. He calls Nani and tells her about his promotion and that he is marrying Michelle…beta yeh kyoon nahi bataya ke she could be your mother age wise? Michelle is so happy these days…love seeing Marina Khan in that mode. I just wish I could sit her down and talk some sense into her!! I wish I could tell her that her happiness is temporary and soon she is about to get the shock of her life! Michelle, why have you still not understood this slime bag? Day 1 as manager and he already got in to a fight with a customer. Why can’t you see how right Rizwan is for you? So good to see Adnan Jaffer back.
All in all episode 17 was fantastic. I can’t say enough positive things about the Salma getting beaten up scene. All the actors (especially Amina Sheikh and Ali Kazmi) deserve full praise for their acting. This was one of the best episodes so far!
