I had been wondering how Jamshed could be so calculated, suave, and clever without fail for a while now…now I know ke it runs in his blood…matlab Bhatti Mamo bhi and Iqbal Mamu bhi. The entire family has a Masters in manipulation and deception. You’ve got Iqbal mamu, who, instead of taking care of his mother, spends the money his brother sends on his wife’s brother, and has the nerve to make his own mother feel guilty about not taking care of her. Un se bari scene Mami hain. I hope they both realize that they too have (an only) son and karma is not so kind! Then you’ve got Imran Mami…I love how Bhatti is always draining Salma with his problems, yet never once asked about her issues. Then the guy has the audacity to call her out on one little lie she said about her husband and make such a big deal about it. What was Salma supposed to say? “Oh my husband is a disgusting wife beater who just came back from spending another 2 years in Jail?” Dear Bhatti, just because you like to carry around your problems on your sleeve, doesn’t mean everyone else does. Can you imagine what would happen if he had a facebook account? Every two minutes there would be a status on how big of a victim he is. Also, if you had recognized that her husband was the guy who mugged you, to dhang se kehte na? Can you imagine the life Salma must be living with him? Ugh! Noman Ijaz truly deserves an Oscar for his portrayal of Imran Bhatti…I don’t think I’ve ever seen him play such a complicated character. Plus it was nice to see him get out of his jageerdaar role for once.
Speaking of Oscars, Ali Kazmi is most definitely in the running…I was amused to hear Sikander call Bhatti a paindu…Hello Pot, my name is kettle! I also lie to my wife religiously, but I take it a step further, and beat her up also! Bechari Salma, what is she to do? What I love about Salma is that even though she is shown as an abused wife, she is bloody strong! She doesn’t sit in a corner and cry about how much pain she is in. She gets right back up, goes to work, takes care of her responsibilities (and then some) and is constantly thinking about how to make things better for Iman. Sikander pretends to be more of a victim than Salma actually is. Credit for this goes only and only to Vasay for portraying a strong woman who absolutely fears for her and her daughter’s life, but doesn’t sit around trying to gain other people’s sympathies. He shows a determined and strong Salma and many writers could definitely learn from him! Not only Salma, but also Alya and Michele. All strong, determined, and independent women who could easily be role models. The audience is craving for such characters…stop giving us mazloom khawateen all the time!! Ok I’m done rambling.
So I was under the impression that Maria was Michelle’s daughter, but learned today that she is actually her younger sister. We also learned that Michele’s chacha was also her father in law and a money hungry qabees who took her father’s house. Waise now that Jamshed knows about that house, kaheen un mohtaram ki bhi nazar to us ghar pe nahi hai? Not too far fetched at all, the way his mind works! Jamshed did a great job convincing Michelle how she had hurt him by giving him the manager position…matlab bande mein khuddari hai, ana hai…actually kuch nahi hai and after that drama, he takes the job. So, did anyone else notice how ‘Sikandarish’ Jamshed’s smile was when he was walking off after telling Michelle off about the job? Eve Michelle’s past story and her line of “dekho jamshed, chahe aapka koi bhi gharz ho, per kabhi kisi ke eitemaad ko thes nahi pohonchana chahiye” waali line didn’t work. Michelle, seriously you gave up on Rizwan because of him?
All in all, another great episode of Jackson Heights! We are finally on track and kudoos to MJ for extracting such great performances from the entire cast.
Let us know what you thought.
