So whereas the serial has been dragged a bit so far, I think, (desperately hope), that this episode was the turning point, at least for Salma’s domestic life and Michelle’s growth. Episode 10 begins with Tai Jee wanting Alya to give a loan for $10-15K because apparently there is a money tree at the salon. She feels it wise to give Sikander the money so he can restart a business with a desi friend that has already flopped. She even has eyes on Salma’s jewelry. Thankfully Salma shuts that door down quickly!
So its Bhatti’s Saheb’s birthday and Iman has a card for him…what? She met him for perhaps an hour and she not only remembered his birthday and has a card for him, but wants Salma to also get a card for him. I’m pretty sure I have watched every episode, since I did review them all, so when did this equation happen? More importantly, where can I buy this magic wand that these dramas seem to have and how much does it cost? It seems to erase time and make things happen out of the blue. Anyways while Kathy Bhabi forgets his birthday, Mark buys him a cake from his savings…seriously this kid is adorable (not to mention the most sensible one in the family).
Jamshed is still working at Michelle’s hotel and flirting with her at the same time. The entire Jamshed track has become a nuance. I’m sorry but Adeel’s acting seems like he was bored while filming. We do (thank God) see Rizwan back, even if it is for 2 minutes. He send Michelle a shirt that is apparently too loud for her, but Jamshed convinces her to wear it. This entire equation is creeping me out…there is something quite unnatural about this since Michelle looks like she could be his mother.
While Bhatti goes to meet Salma with balloons in his hands (yes ladies and gentlemen, he brought balloons for his own birthday), Sikander finds out from Kash that Iman is still going to dance class. He beats her up while Tai Jee, Iman and Kash watch…\which is where the episode ends! Kitna shareef khandan hai Tai Jee ka waise! While I agree that Salma should not have gone behind his back and enrolled Iman back in dance class, I absolutely condone the way he deals with it. I wanted to call the police myself and have him, his mother and Kash arrested! Tai Jee is the biggest culprit as she raised him…she even stops Kash from checking in on Salma. How a woman can watch another woman get beat up is beyond me. How anyone can lay a hand on another is beyond me. There better be a special place in he** for such people! Domestic abuse is an extremely serious issue and I hope the team of Jackson Heights deals with it in such manner also. The end better not have Salma forgiving Sikander thinking and hoping that he will change. Since Mehreen is directing, I have hopes.
Like I said, this episode seems like the turning point. Thank You for sparing us the Nasir and Asma track and going forward, please also spare us the Mami track. Its getting a bit much to see Nouman Ejaz in the Bhatti character and this time I felt Adeel was also lacking in his abilities. Amina Sheikh, Marina Khan, and Adnan Jaffar were great as always.
