So, the much-awaited serial begins! I have mixed feelings for this one. But before I start the review, I’ll give an introduction:
So far, the story is about a middle-class family with 2 sons and a daughter; Mohsin(Fahad Mustafa), Ahsan and Hira(Jana Malik). The family seems to rely on Mohsin a lot, when it comes to money for living, since the head of the family has retired. The mother(Saba Pervez) seems to have a strong hold on the house. It’s like no one can really say ‘no’ to her. She doesn’t like her sister-in-law for some reason and so doesn’t like her son, Shehzad either. I think she’s jealous, let’s see. It seems her personality will have a big role to play in this drama serial according to the promos.
Like I mentioned before, I have mixed feelings for this episode. A lot happened in just one episode. It was fast-paced, which I like, but the main focus was on just one or two characters. I think they should have had an equal role for all main characters since it was the introductory episode. By the looks of the next episode preview, I think the story will stay on the same track, but the fact that it’s happening fast is good. I still think the team should have distributed the roles evenly. One thing I disliked was Jana Malik’s over-acting and Shahzad’s(don’t know his real name) not-so-great performance. He mostly had a flat face and sometimes a smile. I think he can act better but I felt he wasn’t trying hard enough. And Jana Malik, I believe was getting over-excited often. On the other hand, the other actors like Fahad Mustafa and Saba Pervez were acting just fine. They are awesome actors so their performance just comes naturally no matter what kind of role they have to do.
Coming to the personalities of the characters; Rukkaya(Saba Pervez) seems to be a woman with strong control over her house. Mohsin and Hira are her “ladlay” children. She is kind of insensitive to feelings. Her daughter, Hira is a very clever girl. First, she confesses, then convinces her mother, marries Shehzad, and now is trying to get involved with Ali(Hassan Niazi) just because he is richer than Shehzad. I really thought Hira loved Shehzad sincerely but I guess I was wrong. I was kind of disappointed to find out because I found some scenes with Shehzad and Hira so cute that I had a smile on my face without noticing. I feel bad for Shehzad. It seems money is much for important for Hira, compared to true love.
Overall, it was a good beginning :) The first episode was very happening but the main focus was on Hira, and somewhat Shehzad. I hope that they get viewers attention on other characters as well because right now, only Hira and Shehzad seem like the main characters and other major characters look like extras. Hopefully, that will change. I also want to add that Fahad Mustafa looks so cute in this role! He wasn’t on-screen a lot in this episode but he did great while he was on-screen. I was expecting him to be in there a lot more though. Fahad Mustafa is actually the reason I was looking forward to this drama so much. But so far so good. I am looking forward to how the story unfolds. I think it’ll be a good one. Time will tell :)
