So the episode was pretty slow overall, but it had its high-points. My favorite element in the episode was that Hareem was sub-conciously bringing Ashar and Khirad closer. The scene where the not-so-happy family falls asleep during story time had a subtle charm to it, as did the scene where Ashar ends Khirad and Hareem’s argument over the zoo.
Ashar was his usual annoying self throughout most of the episode, but I feel that his and Khirad’s argument after his conversation with his mother helped put his character into perspective. In his eyes, his wife cheated on him, ran away from home and then came back 4 years later with his daughter whom he never knew existed. I guess this does give him some license to be bitter, no matter how anger-inducing his constant taunts towards Khirad get.
So there was this one character in the show a couple of episodes ago named Khizar. He had seemingly disappeared off the face of Earth, but today we finally find out what he’s been up to in the past 4 years. Not only has he completed his studies, but he is also living in America now, courtesy of Fareeda Aunty and the massive sums of money she is still giving him. However, one thing hasn’t changed, and that is his undying love for Sarah *rolls eyes*. Sarah still hates his guts, but has to keep the charade going in order to keep Khizar under the radar. This is one part of the story that I don’t get. Sarah has no intentions of getting married soon, so what is she going to do with Khizar? She can’t exactly keep giving him excuses for the rest of her life now can she?
One thing that really disappointed me was the scene where Sarah finds out about Khirad’s return. I’m not sure if this is just me, but I’d been impatiently waiting for scene ever since the preview of episode 17 first came on. However, the scene didn’t come on until the very end, and there was no big dhamaka to it as I had been expecting. BUT, if the preview for the next episode is anything to go by, Sarah is going to be freaking out in the upcoming episodes. Who else is dying to see Fareeda Aunty’s face when she hears the news?
Also, was I the only who found it extremely cute when Hareem quietly says “Bye Aunty,” to Sarah? :D
