Finally, finally, we got to see a glimpse of Hareem in this episode – I will disregard the fact that she made her appearance only in the preview of the NEXT episode.
Anyway, so we are Episode 14 of Humsafar now and according to TVKahani, the initial hype about the serial is declining. I totally disagree. Although this episode was more of a “filler”, it was a beautiful portrayal of emotions as well as a smooth transition through the events, eventually taking the four-year leap.
Although the recap was way too long and most of the episode comprised Ashar and Khirad’s misery (the latter more than the former), I do think most of the scenes were necessary (after the “flight” of events in Kuch Pyar Ka Pagalpan, I will never complain about filler episodes again). We find out that Khirad tries one last time to contact Ashar, gets snubbed, has her daughter and pledges she will never, ever contact him again. The scene where she was talking to her new-born daughter was so poignant, it almost moved me to tears.
Ashar was shown to have involved himself too much into his work. I was really relieved to note that he had not gotten married in the four years. In fact, his relationship with Sarah seems to have declined as Sarah herself notes towards the end of the episode.
The very last scene showed Khirad getting out of the rickshaw and looking at Ashar’s office. What a brilliant way to end the episode. I am so looking forward to next week now – and a showdown. Finally! The drama has gotten back on track (for me).
Hats off to the director, the writer and the entire team for keeping us hooked, even through the scenes/episodes which I had thought I would skip. Although a lot of people believe Humsafar is over-rated, I will say it is the perfect blend of a strong script, excellent direction and brilliant acting. You cannot want more than that!
