Like Shopaholic (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Secret_Dreamworld_of_a_Shopaholic), I also have a secret dreamworld. In this world, all directors and producers fast forward the negative scenes and concentrate on the positive. If I was in this dream world, Khirad’s misery would have been wrapped up in this episode and Hareem would have made her entry from the next episode.
Sadly, this is not a dream world. This is reality, where we cry with Khirad as she is forced to leave Ashar’s house and begins a long journey back to Nawabshah. I hope all those who were wondering why she did not wait for Ashar have got their answer. She really was “forced” to leave.
The story did not really progress much in this episode mainly because there was a five-minute recap (very irritating) and quite a few flashbacks, which did add to the emotional appeal of the episode. All we know is Khirad got to Nawabshah, Farida lied to Ashar that she had left on her own, and of course, the rest of the clan simply rejoiced at their “victory.”
Overall, I felt some scenes were too long, especially Sarah’s telephone conversation with her mother, and her interaction with Khizar. It could have been edited out and Khirad’s phone call to Ashar brought forward.
Apart from that, Mahira’s acting definitely picked up in this episode. Fawwad Khan was his flawless self. I felt really mad at Ashar though. Even though I have said time and again that he is the personification of an average male, everything could have been sorted out only if he had communicated with Khirad directly.
The direction was excellent. The way the Khirad and Ashar scenes were coordinated with her leaving and him on Sea View was a treat to watch (in terms of camerawork and direction of course – not the content of the scene).
I feel the drama is being dragged a little bit; but then maybe only I am feeling this because it doesn’t seem Hareem is coming in the next episode. Hurry up, girl. I am waiting for your entry!
