And so it finally happened. Months of planning by Farida, Zarina, Khizar and Sarah bore fruit. Manipulations of conversations and incidents which had already started breeding suspicion in Ashar’s heart became firmly entrenched today. The final move played by Farida and Khizar started a chain reaction of events, of which we glimpsed the first and most important part today – the doors of her husband’s house being closed upon her.
It was heart-wrenching to say the least. Farida was definitely an evil genius. She knew perfectly the weaknesses of both Khirad (unsuspecting / innocent) and Ashar (insecurity / suspicion) and she played both of them to perfection. Khizar and Zarina helped her to the best of their ability.
Once again, the excellent script of Farhat Ishtiaq as well as the brilliant direction of Sarmad Salman Khoosat was reflected in today’s episode. I loved the part where Ashar said (in the beginning of the episode) that you cannot have that much time for friends once you are married. This is such an important point for couples to understand because friendships, though seemingly innocent, sometimes cause loads of peeves in a marriage.
The only thing that made me cringe throughout the episode was Mahira’s acting. I have said this before and I will reiterate that she cannot express different emotions, either through her voice or her expressions. Her acting was fairly decent in the first part of the episode, but by the second half, the part where it mattered the most, it fell apart completely.
The scene where she is trying to prove her innocence with Ashar present was a little better – she played decently the part of someone who is shocked and crying so much that she couldn’t speak. But the last scene – her confrontation with Farida – was really messed up. In fact, even Atiqa Odho, a seasoned actress as she is, was emoting only with voice. What was up with that scene? It was supposed to be the most crucial scene of the episode but both Farida and Khirad’s expressions were flat.
Even towards the end, Khirad allows herself to be led so easily through the door. At least put up some resistance, girl. I think it would have been better to just show her locked out because that was still an improved scene.
Overall, this was one depressing episode and as per the precap, there are more teary scenes to come. Hang on to your hankies, viewers!
