Harry Potter, the biggest movie phenomenon of all times. Over the last decade it has mesmerized the audience’s world over and define the movie going generation. Just a couple of months before stars and movie fans lined-up in London to celebrate 10 years of book and movie magic. Farewells were said to heroes and the final-ever film was released world-wide. And this is also a goodbye to “my” favorite saga in a humble way to show that we will remember it ’till the very end.

Daniel Radcliffe(Harry Potter), Emma Watson(Hermione Granger and Rupert Grant(Ronald Wesley) were just 11 to 12 years old when they appeared in the first movie and nobody would’ve ever thought that these were the three characters that were going to dominate our lives for the next ten years.

So join me in giving a final tribute to heroes of the largest selling franchise of all times in an epic journey through the most magical movies ever made on the following countdown.

INTRODUCTION:
Harry Potter is a series of fantasy novel based movies written by the author J.K Rowling. The series named after the titular character, chronicles the adventures of a young wizard Harry Potter along with his two friends Hermione Granger and Ronald Wesley all of whom are students in the ‘Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry’.
The main story arc is concerned with Harry’s quest to overcome the Dark Wizard ‘Lord Voldemort’ who aims to become immortal, conquer the warding world, control(by conquest) non-magical people(smuggles), and destroy all those who dare stand in his way especially the major ‘obstacle’ Harry Potter.

CHARACTERS:

Well there are an awful lot of characters but we will just discuss those that greatly inspired both the books and movies:
1-Harry James Potter: The main hero of the series whose parents were killed at the age of one by Voldemort (we’ve discussed him earlier) and somehow he survived leaving Voldemort powerless and he has to face many tight spaces later throughout his schooling. I think he was a great hero but the only think I found slightly disturbing was the ‘loop-holes’ or ‘luck’ he got in his every challenge that helped him survive maybe it would have been better with him using some logic or skills but whenever he got near trouble someone was immediately ‘to the rescue’ instead of letting him tackle himself.

2-Ronald Bilious Wealey:A close school friend of Harry’s who always stood by his side (almost) whatever happened and helped him defeat Voldemort. To me Ron was a character good at nature but timid and rather ‘jumpy’ at many occasions and sometimes even left Harry (in jealousy) deserted when he thought Harry was getting ‘too much attention’.

3-Hermoine Jean Granger: Another close school friend of Harry. Exceptionally intelligent. She is also very studious and bookish but proved to be a great help in defeating Voldemort too. Now that is someone who ‘really’ deserves to be discussed and appreciated. Instead of relying on others (like Harry and Ron) had a motto of ‘do-it-yourself’ and amazingly helped Harry and Ron everywhere whether it was homework or brewing-up ‘potions’ and was the only one that never left Harry no matter how hard the situation was.

4-Albus Percival Sulfuric Brian Dumbledore: The current and most famous Headmaster of Hogwarts School. He is also the most powerful wizard of all times and a sort of ‘father figure’ for Harry and the only wizard that Voldemort fears. But later turned out to be ‘not-so-good’. According to my point-of-view Dumbledore was a really calm and gentle wizard despite his old age of about he took pains in defeating Voldemort that none other. And he turning-up to be a kind of ‘fraud’ hit me as the biggest shock throughout the series.

5-Lord Voldemort (or as previously known; Tom Marvel Riddle):An evil wizard (also orphan) who when denied the post of a Professor in Hogwarts tried to make himself ‘immortal’ to control both the wizard and smuggle (non-magic) world. The greatest fear of all wizards and referred as ‘you-know-who’ or ‘he-who-mustn’t be named’ by most wizards. As far as I understood Voldemort had always known his power over the weak and bullied his fellows even as a child and maybe would not have been ‘that’ wicked if his father hadn’t left him all alone in the world that gave him a very bad idea of the world.

6-Severous Snape: the Defence against the Dark Arts teacher in Hogwarts School who seemed to hate Harry during the whole series and the loathe was equally returned by Harry. But turned out to be a very major help and a self-sacrificing person at the end of saga. I must say I never ‘actually’ loved this character but then again ‘it is what it is’. And there is no denying that he was the ‘true hero’ of the series and after the truth being revealed I felt a certain awe towards him but couldn’t (still) replace him with Dumbledore.
ACTORS:
Well, the thing about which I was most satisfied was the casting and was rather ‘knocked-off’ when found out that in the fourth part the cast might be replaced due to the change of Director. The acting of Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) was very convincing and he gave every scene just the expression it needed. Emma Watson (Hermione Granger) and Rupert Grint (Ronald Wesley) also played a chief role in ‘bringing the story to life’. The character Dumbledore was played by two people; Richard Harris and Michael Gambon. After the tragic death of Richard Harris after the first two movies they casted Michael Gabon but the one I enjoyed more was Richard Harris he had his own way of acting that inspired me and I was very taken-aback by his sudden death and didn’t much enjoy Micheal Gambon playing the role afterwards, it always seemed like he was in a hurry to say the lines and didn’t enjoy acting the role. Voldemort was played by 6 different people throughout the movie but the main was played by Ralph Fiennes and he handled it really well. But the one that inspired me the most was Tom Felton(Draco Malfoy) and his expressions were regarded as ‘priceless’ by Jo. Rowling and she also stated that she enjoyed writing how the character ‘grew-up’. Other main and influential actors include Gary Old man (Sirius Black), Alan Rickman (Severus Snape), Matte Lewis (Neville Long bottom), Ivanna Lynch (Luna Love good) and Robbie Coltrane (Rubies Hag rid).

DIRECTION / PRODUCTION:
The Director of the first 3 movies was Chris Columbus and he did an amazing job directing the movies but his replacement by David Yates affected the movies but we could see his hard work in the last two parts and he also proved to be a very promising Director. The camera effects in the first two parts were excellent but dropped down a little in the third part but after the comments from critics were given more attention in the fourth part and were carried on steadily and perfectly after that. The production values were also appreciable.
Well, despite some weak parts, altogether it was a pleasure watching and reading the series discovering and unleashing plots with the greatest fantasy hero ever and I hope that you will enjoy the series (if you haven’t already) as much as me.
Sorry for the review being long but as it is my first review I would be waiting for you candid feedback and I would appreciate if you tell me what did you think about it.
