“Meri kismat tumhe mil gayi, tumhari kismat mujhe mil gayi”, I think this one dialogue of Rania summed up the all the episodes (so far) of Halki Si Khalish for me. Rania is an immature grown woman who is a materialist, she does not care a damn about emotions, others’ feelings whereas on the other Rabia is a mature woman who cares for others, thinks before speaking. Both the sisters are poles apart. The episode didn’t disappoint unlike the last one which was plain boring.
One sister is trying hard to adjust in the new phase of life whereas the other one refuses to budge and is adamant on breaking her own house. Rania is on self-destruction mode undoubtedly, but I will also blame Abida for all the mess, she is aware of Rania’s temperament, why cannot she be a bit more patient and reason it with her? Screaming, dismissing her is not the solution to the problem because that is making her more adamant and of course fulfilling all her demands is not in their best interest either.
I feel sorry for Rabia, she certainly doesn’t deserve a sasural like Kamaal/Khurram’s. When the episode started my opinion of Khurram started to change but towards the end he did something utterly foolish that made me go back to my previous opinion of him. I thought him and Rabia were warming up to each other, developing a certain kind of friendship but nope I was wrong, it may be too early to judge but I just couldn’t help it. I understand people in the profession of teaching are known to be strict disciplinarian but I still don’t understand as to why Kamaal is so strict not only with his son but also his daughter-in-law? They are not children who could be controlled, and if you would continue to be strict they’d develop a rebellious streak which Khurram has developed, he may pretend to care about his father’s orders but in reality he is a mann-mauji. Khurram should have at least not used Rabia as an excuse for hanging with his friends, she is his responsibility.
In the episode, the best scene had to be the one where Rania arrives at Rabia’s house unannounced and informs her that she has left Aamir’s house as she can’t stand Abida anymore. The horror on her face was so real, I wonder how Kamaal would react when he will learn that Rania has come to stay. Mawra Hocane was boring in the episode whereas Mehreen Raheel was slightly better compared to her performance in the last few episodes.
In next week’s preview, Rania’s ex-lover Behzad is re-entering the serial which will surely make the story more interesting.
