Finally after 7 episodes, there are some major developments in the story. After some unnecessary deliberation Kamal Ahmed rejected Zarfi’s marriage proposal for GER, GER inturn rejected Adeel’s proposal, Ashar Bhai is getting married, Adeel as always is not accepting rejection gracefully and that’s something which is gonna cause problems for GER in the future.
So this week I decided to stay neutral, put my feelings aside and just review this episode neutrally. Wish me luck, Here goes :)
Adeel is delusional, he has set some very high standards for his future wife but somehow he himself is exempted from any moral or ethical obligation. Tania the girl from his office came to see his mother, unfortunately things did not go as planned but we did get an opportunity to see a different side to Adeel. He was calling her all sorts of names but at the same time when GER gave him a reality check, he was quick to defend himself and justify his actions. As far as he is concerned he has never done anything wrong and even if he ever did, he should not be held accountable for his actions.
Call me crazy but I felt like he was actually trying to make an effort to convince GER that he is a good person. The scene with Tania and later in the kitchen when GER was having her breakfast, he couldn’t stand her sharp words. For a second I actually felt like he was hurt. Maybe, just maybe he does actually have feelings for her and he does want her to have a favorable opinion of him. He also didn’t like it when GER saw Hamna sitting with him and she took her sister away as if she was trying to protect her and later when Hamna told him quite bluntly what GET thought about him; let’s just say he wasn’t happy with her choice of words.
Adeel’s behavior is confusing, he may like GER but when Kamal Ahmed went to Zafri’s house to reject his proposal; Adeel went with him. I don’t think he was afraid that under his sister’s pressure Kamal Ahmed would change his decision rather he went there to defeat Zafri. That look and that smile said a lot. He was in a way gloating, in his mind he defeated Zafri and won the prize. Don’t think that’s a healthy attitude.
I am so glad we finally have our moun-phatt, champion of women’s rights, in your face kind of heroin back. GER is back people. She stood by Tania and wasn’t afraid to tell Adeel what she really thought about him. She even threatened to take Tania to her Taya abbu but, don’t know why she didn’t make good on her threat. She dosen’t like to talk to Adeel but whenever he passes any remarks on her character, she is quick to defend herself. At such times, she not only defends her reputation but also puts Adeel in his place, which of course is not well received by our hero. So, nobody was surprised the way he reacted when he realized GER had rejected him.
Did anyone notice Adeel was sort of blushing when he was discussing his marriage plans with his father ? O boy, I did not see that coming, Keep it in mind folks that in the last episode, he said he did not believe in love and he was only interested in marrying GER cause she fit the criteria that he had in mind for his future wife. I am guessing he has fallen for her but his ego won’t allow him to accept it.
I am so happy the extended family went to their homes, we did not have to see those annoying people and hear those repetitive dialogues again.
In the flashbacks, after GER reused to marry Adeel, she was missing her father. It was heartbreaking, only if her father was alive, she would not have to go through all this. She could open her heart to him and he would understand. I am also glad they did not use the badminton scene yet again.
Ashar Bhai what is the deal ? We have all been under the impression that he likes GER and now as soon as he got a job his marriage has been Pakistani with someone else ? Is he ok with it ?
The end was hasty…they could have given us some detail. We see someone on the phone and she says GER’s cousin is here to pick her up, hello…the teachers and staff in Girls’ colleges are very smart. They don’t fall for these tactics so easily. A young guy comes to pick up a girl and they say ok ? I was expecting more from GER, she had slapped Adeel the night before, ok so he apologized in the morning but still, she should have been more careful. Why not call home and check before jumping in the car with the guy you slapped last night ?
Anyways, the car scene should have been paid more attention to, all we saw were leaves and tree branches while we heard GER and Adeel in the background.
I am sorry I know I said I will try and be neutral and fair but I just have to mention this…please keep in mind the gravity of the situation, GER is being kidnapped, she is being dragged away by the hero/villain ( we will decide that later on for now that’s irrelevant) in true ” damsel in distress ” manner, when he lets go of her hand, she does not run back to the door to get away but heads towards the window, knowing fully well it is too high to jump and then she screams ” koi hai “? Durrrrrrrrrr in her Taya’s house Aashir Bhai’s 6th sense warns him, something is not right. This scene reminded me of ” the Punjabi Classic Mola Jutt ” and so many other Sultan Rahi Marhoom starring Punjabi Movies where the trapped heroine screams the hero’s name and even if he is in a different city, he jumps on his trusted steed and rushes to the rescue before the heroine in done screaming :). I am sorry, I know I know I am being carried away but I just needed to get this out of my system :). I mean what was the logic behind that ?
It is at this point that Adeel finally declared his love for GER, was it intentional or a slip of tongue, that remains to be seen but for now poor GER is in a lot of trouble. Things have become interesting and I am waiting for next week to find out what happens. I have to say Sajal Ali was fabulous .
