Gul-E-Rana and her family are settled in Kamal Ahmed’s house and instead of just sitting there and looking pretty, the girls are helping around the house and proving that they haven’t taken Shahida and Kamal’s generosity for granted. Much to KA’s pleasure and surprise, obviously he is comparing them with his sister’s daughters and there is a stark contrast.
” The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach “; this saying holds true for Adeel as well cause so far his only interaction with Muneera and GER is through food. He can only be a little civil when he wants to eat, other than that he is as rude with them as he is with everyone else. Speaking of food, that ” fight over breakfast ” scene; I know it was meant to be cute but somehow it didn’t work. Adeel is so used to being pampered and having his way, why would he settle for ” a thanda, jhoota, saada sa naashta “, why did he not call Gulab Khan and ordered his own breakfast ? GER is outspoken but just snatching food out of your uncle’s son’s hands, in whose house you are living and with whom you are not even cordial is just not how it works. It dosen’t go with either one of their characters. Adeel just stood up and told her, it was his house and he didn’t want her jhootha breakfast isn’t like him. He raises Hell over the smallest things, so why let this issue go so easily ?
Adeel apparently is not all bad, while he may not always be cordial towards GER and her family and guests but he does seem to be getting along with Hania. Also he didn’t like Zafri’s cheap attitude towards GER. Another thing that caught my attention was Adeel’s comment ” her shaks ko apni zindagi apnay tareeqay say guzarnay ka haq hona chaheyay “. It reminds me of old Pakistani movies. ” hero bin-maa ka bachha, matlabbi Rishtay-Daaroon main ghirra, saari Umar rishtoon, Pyar aur khaloos k leyay tarasta aur apni Issi kammi ko poora kernay k leyay larkeyoon say shamelessly flirt kerta raha” and then comes the golden girl along with her shiny, out of a fairytale family :) to tame the good natured bad boy ( I hope it makes sense ).
This story looks to me like Cinderella meets Beauty And The Beast, while the two other vain girls fight for the Beast’s / Prince Charming’s attention and the not one but two evil step-moms ( phoppos ) who are doing everything they can to ruin Cinderella’s chances and also letting her know her place.
This episode also provided us an insight into Zafri’s psyche; he is a lazy, good for nothing, road side Romeo who loves to dictate how his own sister should dress up, like a proper woman; covering her head and all but of course rules are totally different for him. He has been hitting on Laila and now the center of his attention is GER. I have a feeling in the coming episode GER will be receiving more and more unwanted attention from Zafri and I am hoping we won’t have to see anything creepy. But I did enjoy the sibling rivalry, Maria and Zafri are both selfish to the core and are well aware of eachother’s nature and motives, so there arguments were fun to watch.
Coming to that ” ayinda mughay haath mut lagana scene “, it was weird. Any girl in GER’s position would know that she is a fatherless girl and is living at her uncle’s, so it’s best to not create any issues or unnecessary problems, in my opinion in this scene ” less would have been more “. Just a simple jerk movement, moving away quickly and an uncomfortable look would have said it all, with this particular dialogue, it was like asking for trouble. GER already knows Adeel is a weirdo, so it’s best to keep her distance and not do anything to attract his attention but her reaction seemed provocative. If she keeps this attitude up, then obviously he will be intrigued and that will lead to further clashes.
Another awkward scene was GER coming into the room after visiting her khala and her Taya Jaan apparently whispering her virtues to his son ” GER nay bilkul Tumhari maa Ki Tarah sar pay dupatta leya hai “, ” GER bilkul Tumhari maa Ki Tarah ghar ka khayal rakhtti hai “. Everyone in the room could hear him loud and clear, why was he putting her on the spot like that and why is he mentioning all this to his ” bigra hua bayta ” ? I would like to know what’s going on in his mind, is he planning something ?
I wish someone would give Adeel a make over, in this episode he was wearing those fitted jeans ” Jin k painchay folded thay ” and they weren’t looking good. Also those fitted pajamas or whatever that was, it was an eye sore. I am liking the ladies’ styling but if only someone would pay a little attention to the hero’s look.
Another simple mistake, Adeel calls Gulab Khan to clean his room and Muneera informs him that Gulab Khan has gone to the market with Shahida…then Hania comes back to tell Adeel that Gulab Khan is cleaning his car and Adeel remembers k mainnay hi us ko kaha tha…please just settle the issue once and for all. Also, I am still a Gulab Khan fan :)
So far, this drama has been a mix of some good things and some not so good aspects, since I am reviewing it and am trying really really hard to like it ( to make my job easier) I am hoping the strong points will out weight the weak points.
In the end, I am sorry for the late review, hopefully my next review will be on time :)
