The atmosphere at Aziz Ahmed’s house is gloomy, the entire family is still coming to terms with the loss of loosing not only a loved one but also the breadwinner of the family. It is heartbreaking to witness how heartless and down right cruel people can become when they can find an easy target to exploit. Aziz Ahmed’s wife was still in her Iddat, trying to come out of the initial shock while taking care of her devastated daughters, when the neighbors started asking for their money. The family wasn’t even given the time and peace to mourn their dead husband and father. It was heartbreaking to see suddenly how vulnerable this family had become after the death of the only male member of the family.

Last week GER had come across as a very idealistic young girl without a care in the world, this week when Muneera suggested that they should sell the car to take care of the finances, my initial thought was GER would certainly disagree due to the sentimental value of the car but she agreed. The young girl we met last week, was forced to grow up into a mature young woman in a very short interval of time.

We also got a glimpse of Aashir Bhai ( I hope I got the name right ) . He is a sweet, sensible, caring guy…in short your all around good guy, a complete contrast to our ” bad boy ” hero. He is definitely in love with GER and is waiting for the right time to say it or rather to send his mother with the marriage proposal. Although he is a very nice guy buy he lacks that confidence that comes with wealth and influence, you know the kind Adeel has abundance of.

Kamal Ahmed has been an emotional support for his brother’s family but so far, he hasn’t offered to support them financially. I am guessing he knows the difference between the families of his greedy sisters and that of his late brother’s. So he will wait till Muneera and her daughter’s have exhausted all other options before he comes to their rescue. By then, they would be practical in their thinking and would know they have to accept his help.

Now coming to Kamal Ahmed’s story. He is Aziz Ahmed’s step brother. Apparently Aziz Ahmed’s step mom and sister’s couldn’t stand him and that’s why he lest his house and never looked back. The brothers didn’t have any problems with eachother but it was Aziz Ahmed’s ZID and Ego that created a rift in their relationship. Call me crazy but throughout these scenes I kept on thinking ” Diyar-E-Dil…Diyar-E-Dil,  Diyar-E-Dil ” wohi do Bhai, aik Ki ZID Ki wajah say dono juda huay, aik k marnay pay Doosra aaya, end main dono k bachoon Ki shadi ” . I am sorry guys, I am telling you it isn’t my fault, I just can’t help myself, even when Hamna hugged her Taya ( Kamal Ahmed ) and said ” aap say Mughay papa Ki kush OK aati hai ” my mind was magically transported to the scene where Fara Hughes her Agha Jaan and said ” aap say Mughay baba Ki kushbo aati hai “. DED nay nikamma ker deya Ghalib, warna aadmi hum bhe thay kaam k :)

So now coming to Adeel. Before I start, let me just say my most favorite character in his household is his servant Gulab :). He is a moun-phatt, phabbay-kutni, type of guy who is so much fun to watch. He echoes our thoughts and also says things which poor Shahida is too afraid to say out loud. Speaking of Shahida, she is one step-mother I feel sorry for. She is being bullied by Adeel and her phoppos and I am not even sure if her husband gives her the respect she deserves but she is a nice person.

Adeel has not one but two greedy phoppos and both have n equally greedy daughter, whose sole ambition in life is ” karoor-Patti mamo ka ikloota larka phassao “, only the larka is too smart for both of them. He knows his family and their ambitions and he very clearly plays them against eachother. There is not one person in his family who is another’s well-wisher, no wonder Adeel dosen’t have any respect for anyone or any relationship.

I can’t wait for him to come face to face with GER, the girl who will neither be impressed with his big bucks nor with his charms. He has never come across the likes of her, so in short she will prove to be …a challenge.
