Once again really sorry for the late review, I am trying to be on time, hopefully from next week, my reviews won’t be late.
Where to start ? Finally when GR was getting her life back on track, when everyone was able to see what a creep Adeel really is, pata nahi kis ki nazar laggi GR k sakoon aur taleemi silsilay ko aur Adeel ka accident ho Gaya. As women have done for centuries, GR once again, accepted her elders’ decision and went to look after her SICK husband. I guess, we have reached the point where the writer is gonna show Adeel’s tranisition and as always it is going to be ” the Khidmat-guzaar mashraqi biwi ” who is gonna melt her stone-hearted husband’s heart. This is the only point which I have been able to digest, everything else is a mess. So many lope holes , weird developments, unnecessary scenes and of course a complete lack of any side tracks is not giving us much to watch, it’s just GR and Adeel.
I was trying to appreciate the fact that GR has enough sense to know its time to get her life on track, that is why she was resuming her studies and had joined her Taya’s office. If only the writer could develop that point and give us a leading lady, who was a survivor and a fighter. Who got out of an abusive relationship and with the support of her family, friends and inlaws had gotten back on her feet but our writers’ and audiences’ love affair with ” damsels in distress ” isn’t gonna end anytime soon. So, here we are. GR had to leave everything she had worked so hard for behind and move back in with her abusive husband because…he needed someone to take care of him and the elders took it upon themselves to make this decision for GR, that it was time they were both left to themselves in a far flung place, away from the support of family … And this way they could work their differences out. Had this drama made any sense in the first place, I would have been so disappointed by this turn of events but in this prticular case…its life as usual.
Kamal Ahmed has enough money to hire an army of nurses and doctors to give his only son round the clock care, he could charter a plane and have his son come back to Karachi where he could get the best possible treatment but no. So, he was left in the hands of the wife who was planning on leaving her husband in the first place. I am unable to understand why all of his friends have suddenly ditched him, he has a huge house, servants and money is not a problem for him, so they can come over and have a good time. The only people who came to visit were GR’s friends, Umer and his sister. The motive of course was to make Adeel jealous.
The ” state of affairs ” is ever changing and always confusing. Ashar is counting his last days but still his mother is planning his wedding….he deliberately tells GR about this to see her reaction, what is he expecting? She is a married woman and he is dying. Again, Umer is also flirting with GR, while Adeel is in the same house, Can’t these guys find single girls ? And where are morals and values when it is GR enjoying the company and compliments of unmaihram men ?
Maria along with the major part of the cast is suddenly out of the picture, without any reason. The writer could have given them this opportunity to score some major points, Maria could have taken care of Adeel to win him over but she has been taken out of the picture. So, we only have a single track, that is GR and Adeel , maybe it was a deliberate attempt to keep focus on these two but they are running out of scenarios and conversations. It would be better if we could watch side tracks. Ashir Bhai’s cancer has also been concealed long enough, even if the family finds out about it now, I don’t think it will have any impact on the overall story, except maybe GR will realize she is losing a confidant. I don’t mean to sound heartless but I am kind of getting tired of those recurring dreams of him being shot, it has happened twice and this time even if he is shot in the promos, I won’t believe it till I see it.
If I have to give this drama some credit it would be the acting. Feroz Khan nailed it once gain, Adeel might have been a moron a few weeks ago but after the accident, he is vulnerable, dependent, angry, helpless and broken…Feroz nailed all these emotions. He is looking towards GR for support, I don’t know if that can be interpreted as love or just dependency but for now she is the one he wants to have around. After everything he has done,redeeming himself is not gonna be an easy task and I doubt the writer is gonna be able to convince the audiences that finally Adeel Kamal is a changed man but for now, they are both trying.
