This week Hum Tv decided to do something different or rather something unheard of, so instead of on airing episode 17, they repeated episode 16 in the prime time slot and then uploaded episode 17 on the internet. According to some viewers, episode 17 was also shown in the repeat telecast, what was the logic behind this move, I have no idea.

So lets start with episode 17. I have been criticizing GR for being dull, so it was a relief to finally watch the leading lady in action this week. She has decided to take a stand for herself and put the past behind her; she has started docussing on her studies again and also has decided to work. Her first step towards self reliance have got complete support from her Taya and Ashar.

Ashar Bhai after realizing he has got cancer has become fearless, he is now openly supporting GR and Adeel of course dosen’t  like it one bit. When the time comes, Ashar’s death would be a hard blow for GR as he is her rock.  She thinks of him as a friend/ cousin / confidant but he has feelings for her ( so Adeel’s suspicions were not completely groundless). I know, we are not suppose to hold either GR or Ashar guilty, as their relationship was innocent and pure but again, why GR makes such high and mighty claims of self-righteousness ? She can say what she wants but the fact remains that Ashar is her na-maihram. I am glad she finally told someone about her ” forced nikkah ” and Ashir said the same thing, any sensible person would have said, ” you should have told someone ” . I am however, not really convinced with GR’s response. Sabr ki talqeen to shayed loag kertay lakin Adeel ki asleeyet bhe saamnay aa jaati, loogoon ko yaqeen na aata lakin wo Addel pay shak to kertay, us pay nazar to rakhtay. Also, I did not like GR’s makeup and hair in this scene. She was suppose to be down, sad and depressed but her ” look ” suggested otherwise.

While the writer gave GR something to do, there were still many flaws in this episode. Adeel left home, to avoid his upcoming marriage with Maria. Kamal Ahmed promised to look into the matter but nothing happened, so after hiding in Murree ( he told everyone he was leaving the country but was hiding in Murree and nobody from the Murree office or home informed Kamal Ahmed about Adeel’s whereabouts ). Nothing was done and all of a sudden he called GR and told her he was coming back, at that point Maria was still single and Kamal Ahmed had not changed his decision, so what was the point of going into exile and then coming back ?

The viewers are still clueless and comfused about Ashar Bhai ‘s marital status, not that it matters but still , is the guy married or single ? Is he gonna be married or not ? Remember his father died the day before the marriage and then…nothing. We didn’t  hear another word about his inlaws, his wife. What was the purpose of adding that twist ?

Muneera and Shahida are the worst mentors and role models. After all that has happened, they still keep on saying that one sentence ” mian biwi main choti moti baatain to hoti raihti hain, is ka yeah matlab to nahi k insaan apna ghar kharab ker lay ! ” . First of all sexually exploiting your cousin isnt  a ” choti ” baat, secondly, if someone is so adamant upon ending a relationship then its best not to force them back together. Divorce is not just legal, it is also acceptable in Islam, so if a woman keeps on saying she dosen’t  wish to live with her abusive husband, its her right. Its a good thing to try and sort things out, its a good thing to let married couples work things out but if a woman dosen’t  wish to live with her ” rapist, wife beating, abusive husband ” noone should force her.

Honestly, I am getting tired of this play. They are introducing new twists but its not engaging, I am hoping they end it soon.
