The latest developments in this week’s episode were Khalil Ahmed ( Aashir’s father ‘s ) death, GER’s decision of leaving Adeel’s house and moving back to Karachi and Maria’s plans of marrying Adeel.
Maria arrived at GR’s house in Murree and this time she had made up her mind, she will not let this opportunity slip by. She might be silly but she definitely means business. Sundas Tariq has delivered a very convincing performance as Maria, the girl who had been trying to please Adeel from day one, so that he would marry her but her efforts were not fruitful, so now she is prepared to play dirty. It’s good to see Adeel has finally met his match. In this installment, Maria was way more entertaining than both GER and Adeel combined. I am tired of watching them argue, there is nothing new in their conversations, the superb chemistry that both of them shared was missing this week. Particularly GR’s character was tiresome.
I am confused, I think the writer wanted to prove that finally, the old GR is back, she is again in control and that’s why she had that soliloquy after which she made the decision of moving back to Karachi. Unfortunately that scene was horribly executed, it was like GR has turned psycho. She was hearing voices and she was in a conversation with the voices in her head. It had no impact what so ever. I also donot understand why was GR so sad when Adeel was spending time with Maria, please don’t tell me that she was jealous and now she has feelings for him. After all that she has put up with and all the planning of ” moving ahead “, if she still has feelings for him then it makes no sense at all, why leave then ? Stay and put up a fight.
It was sort of understood that since the story is going nowhere, the writer will try to introduce new twists to stretch the drama and again as expected those twists were unnecessary. First of all, what was the point of making Ashar a cancer patient ? Secondly, who cares whether Khallo Jaan lives or dies, he is not even a part of the main storyline. Now that he is dead, is Ashar next in line ? How many deaths should we expect to see in this drama ? And why is it that all the male characters are dying, why not kill one of Adeel’s female relatives, he has so many of them, killing his useless step-mom, or one of his phopps or even Laila, would not hurt . In fact why not kill one person per episode, atleast they can proudly say that ” something did happen ” in each episode. Ok, on a serious note, what is the point of giving so much screen time to Ashir Bhai and his family ? They are not contributing to the story and when will Ashar realize he has got cancer ?
The only sensible thing that took place was Kamal Ahmed’s reaction, when he found out Maria was at Adeel’s house while GR was in Karachi. Mehmood Akhtar sahab and Samina Ahmed’s scene was the only one that I was actually watching with interest. These two veteran actors can bring to life, even the most done to death roles. Their conversation was to the point and this scene made sense. Kamal Ahmed’s concern for all of his children and his sister’s attempts at covering her daughter’s intentions was very realistic. Taya Abbu was disappointing in Murree but looks like Karachi suits him better, he is his old sensible self again.
We were made to believe that Maria was really silly and easy to fool. Uptill now, Adeel had been lying to her, just to keep her around and Maria was naive but this episode showed a whole new side to her. I don’t think she is in love with Adeel after all, it’s his money and status she wants and for that she is even willing to put up with Adeel’s badtamizzi and his tantrums. If the need arises, she will lie to trap him, she is tired of waiting. Since GR and Adeel are too busy arguing, getting lost in the forest, sitting on the naashtay Ki table day after day and sipping as much tea as humanly possible, it’s good that someone else has decided to take things in her hand.
This is all I can come up with. Since the story is moving at a snail’s pace and most of the time we are made to watch scenes that are completely irrelevant, it’s hard to properly review the drama now. To conclude, As always this episode was also horribly edited, it was painful to see random scenes just jumping out of nowhere and then suddenly disappearing without making any sense, GR is by far the most boring heroine on TV this week, the redundant situations and dialogues are becoming a curse I have to endure every week ( please, Khuda k leyay us naashtay Ki table aur naashtay k scenes ko Khatam ker do , can’t take it anymore ).
I am hoping and praying this drama will end by the 20th episode, everyone please say Ameen.
