A filler episode. ” GER Karachi jay ge ya Nahi ” that was the Big Question on everybody’s mind, they took this one point and then dragged it for 40 long, painful minutes.
The award for the biggest disappointment of the week goes to none other than ” Taya Abbu “. Samra Bukhari has done a fabulous job at creating cartoon characters, who have absolutely no consistency what so ever. Uptill now, Taya Abbu has been a very mature, sensible, caring person and I was kind of interested in watching his reaction at the current situation between GER and Adeel. I wanted him to sit both GER and Adeel down and get to the bottom of things. The golden words of wisdom that finally came out of Taya Abbu’s mouth, proved once and for all…” The Apple doesn’t fall far from the tree “. Instead of finding out what the problem was, the sagacious man lectured GER on the duties of a wife and how it is always the woman who has to make the sacrifices. He even went to the length of bluntly boasting how he never tried to find out what his wife wanted, on the contrary it was she ( Shahida ) who was solely responsible for making his marriage work. Sigh…this family is a bunch of lunatics and GER’s father made a wise choice to break all ties from them.
What exactly was the purpose of Taya Abbu’s heartfelt speech/lecture ? Men should never be held accountable for anything, it is women who should be ” qurbani Ki daywi “, no matter what your husband does it is your duty to be a good wife ? Don’t complain cause that is not what good women do ? Seriously, as if by now this drama has not done enough damage, they are going one step further in proving the stereotypes that ” men are exempted from all rules of morality and humanity “, they are some sort of supreme creatures who were created to rule and the women are the lesser beings, whose sole purpose of existence is to please, serve and obey with a smile ?
The next time I sit down to watchi this drama I think I will take a painkiller in advance. What is GEr’s relationship with Ashir ? He calls her his DOOST, she calls him Ashir BHAI and then he is crying like a baby when she informs him, she might not be able to attend his wedding . Like I said, inconsistency at its peak. Either these two are confused or hypocrites…why is it such a big deal if a woman who is in an abusive relationship and is a ” certified Bay-chari ” by now, dosen’t make it to her cousin’s wedding. He knows what kind of circumstances she is facing, as if she dosen’t have enough on her plate , he is adding to her troubles by insisting that she should come…knowing fully well, her psycho husband dosen’t like it. What is the purpose of this character anyway ? He is completely useless.
Adeel was lying to make GER look bad, after the last scene of the previous episode, we understood what he was doing but the writer decided to test our patients by dragging his lies throughout this week. Frankly it gave me a headache, Feroz Khan is amazing as Adeel but Adeel is becoming unbearable to watch. What does he want ? Stop GER from going to Karachi ? He is suppose to be a busy businessman, how does he make time to plan and plot against his wife all day long ? It was even worse when he was yelling at her right infront of his father, and again at breakfast the next morning but his doting daddy didn’t notice THAT. He was so easily convinced by his conniving son that it is all HER fault ?
Shahida made an appearance after an absence of weeks and GER confided in her this time. After confiding in Gulab Khan, Ashir Bhai, this time it was Shahida’s turn. GER always chooses those people, who she is certain will do Absolutely nothing for her. That reminds me of Muneera…a moment of silence. Does this woman have nothing better to do than lecture her daughter on how to behave , how to become the best possible wife/daughter-in-law ? She never tries to find out how her own daughter is doing, is she ok ? If she is not calling then what’s the reason behind that ? When daughter’s get married, parents don’t break all ties. Unfortunately Muneera is so grateful for everything Kamal Ahmed has done for them, she feels it is GER’s duty to repay for that favor by becoming a ” people pleaser “.
GER’s character is becoming very tiresome, apart from the occasional outbursts, she just passes her time by exchanging ” Jalli-Kati ” with Adeel, crying in corners and yes by roaming around in the forest. Is say to baihter hamari wo Mazloom heroines hain ko ronay-dhonay walay scenes ker k TRPs barhati hain…atleast kuch to kerti hain.
Since The episode was a filler, the writer and director added useless scenes to fill up the episode…GER receiving the card, Adeel posting at the bridge…what purpose were those scenes serving ? And for the same reason I don’t have much to discuss.
If you aren’t already watching this drama, believe me you dodged a bullet and if you are watching it, then do comment and let me know how you are putting up with it cause I feel like pulling my hair after watching this episode.
