“Sab kuch loota kay hosh main aaey tho kiya keeya “Is the song playing in my head. Being a self-avowed philistine I can never remember the right sort of poetry for such occasions but a childhood spent being force fed black and white Bollywood movies means I have a song for every occasion.
Mohini and Omar are well into self-destruct mode and it seems as if no one can help them. Despite Usman Peerzada’s best efforts to ruin this character, it is obvious that Rahat Hashmi is a very clever man. When our sleeping Beauty Omar wakes up from, what now seems like a drug enforced coma, his father tells him Mohini has abandoned him. Of course Omar knows his father well enough not to believe him straight away but by the end of the episode we can hear just a hint of doubt in his voice. Mohini in the meanwhile has swallowed the whole “you are not good enough “line from Rahat Hashmi and is spiraling into depression. Mohini and Omar are still very young so all it really takes is some suggestions and their insecurities and inexperience do the rest.
Sana Javaid was again fabulous. She made Mohini’s heart break and misery very real. Mohini’s suicide attempt was awful and I wish writers wouldn’t show such things.. Yes I know people in such depression do think about killing themselves but mostly, “thinking” is all they do. I want to be kind about this but really I was looking forward to seeing an incredibly cute baby. My favourite screen baby has to be Baby Mateen from Durr e Shahwar and the maybe the totally adorable little guy from Dil e Muzter. There is no way Omar won’t find her as soon as he is well enough , in fact it is probably part of Rahat Hashmi’s evil plan and I have a horrid feeling Mohini’s miscarriage will be used to push the young couple apart.
Omar is awake and asking questions. He is still very immature and it shows. Osman really didn’t need dialogues this week his expressions and body language as he was wheeled back into his father’s house said it all .It may sound silly but that whole scene captured my attention more than a lot of clever dialogues would . Tara Mahmood, Christina Albert and Osman Khalid Butt said everything without speaking. Zara is back from rehab and her awful parents are again pushing her to marry Omar. I keep wondering how such mean spirited people manage to have such nice children. I like Zara, she knew she had a problem and instead of ruining someone else’s life she went and got treatment.
One of the best things about Goya is that it had the air of a thriller; there was a touch of mystery to it. However in the last few episodes that is unravelling and fast. The Mrs Hashmi scenes seemed to point to a pregnancy , which if I try not to think about it too much is ok but the whole Zaib un Nisa and Rahat Hashmi track is getting ridiculous . The one good scene Usman Peerzada has had in this entire serial happened today when he nearly lost it in surprise at Zaib un Nissa’s barb about him leaving Chittagong despite someone begging him to stay but then what ? How does such a careful man as Mr Hashmi just let that go, why doesn’t he question her further? As I have said before, I was a big fan of Faiz and Mohammad Ahmed Saheb’s collaboration in Dareecha, I am keeping my finger’s crossed that they will maintain Goya at that level; hopefully they and Yasir Rana have something up their sleeves to tie this whole thing nicely together.
PS I tried really hard not to mention the blue shirt but Nomi man , you are killing me ..maybe it looked good in the store but it hurts my eyes on screen … Meanwhile Tara Mahmood looks drop dead gorgeous in everything and we bow to her infinite and total sartorial elegance .
