Farwa Ki ABC; Episode 7

This episode dealt with the events that took place in the last installment of the drama. It was explained why Sir Mustansar agreed to marry Farwa, who was the genius that came up with this idea and we were given an idea about what to expect in the coming weeks. Along with that both Farwa and Aamas are married now and this episode told the story of how each of them is settling down in their new lives.

Sir Mustansar and Farwa got married but obviously this wasn\’t a well thought out plan, both of them are poles apart and this became quite evident on the first day of their marriage. While Sir Mustansar is a disciplined and organized man who loves his life in accordance with his strict rules and regulation, Farwa is more of a free spirit; a happy go lucky, care free young girl. While her \” mistakes \” were forgiven on the first day, she was however reminded that she would have to keep in mind the likes and dislikes of her new husband. Poor Farwa, aasmaan say girra khajoor main atka.

I was under the impression that Aasma had married Junaid cause like him, she had also been in love with him all aong but after tonight\’s episode, I had to rethink this issue. The way she was teasing Farwa \” Junaid k hawalay say to Tum nay bhe kuch khawaab daikhay hon gay \”, I am sorry what kind of a person does that ? Did she only marry Junaid to make Farwa\’s life difficult. So much so that it is Aasma who is planning both the couple\’s wedding ceremonies. To take away whatever happiness is left for Farwa in celebrating her big day.

Farwa\’s parents\’ attitude is strange.Their daughter eloped and they were naturally furious but Aasma tells them it\’s ok, so they think ok not bad let\’s accept this situation. Next day Farwa comes home and ironically it is Sir Mustansar who ends up rationalizing his marriage to their daughter. It is he who tells them how disturbed their daughter was. They are her parents and they should have known all this. Saeed Sahab just sits there and listens while his new son-in-law explains when and where is he planning on having his wedding reception. When Farwa refuses to go back with her husband, her mother instead of talking to her daughter herself, asks Aasma to perform this duty, why ? They never take a stand for their daughter, Bitto Baji\’s ( Aasma\’s mother ) daughter stole Farwa\’s fiancé and still instead of apologizing she is curious about who Farwa\’s husband is. Even at this point Saeed Sahab is embarrassed due to her questions, instead he should have put her in her place. But no, not this guy and his wife, they are a bit too polite.

Tanveer was the only one person who could see how it bother Farwa that Aasma had eloped with her fiancé. Not even her own parents thought about how this would affect their own daughter. Instead the servant of the house came to make her feel better. I really like this guy :).

The chit chat at tea after dinner in Aasma\’s honour was done superbly. Who could have thought these parhay likhay loag could be so inconsiderate and boring. Mrs.Saeed asked Junaid a simple question \” how was dinner \” that\’s it. The discussion that lead to the answer of that question covered everything from racism, dividing the world, politics, but nobody even thought of paying Mrs.Saeed or her chef a simple compliment. I truly felt for Farwa, I myself couldn\’t wait for that discussion to end I don\’t know how Farwa put up with this \” parhay likhay loag showing off \” scenario.

She tried to escape the situation by deciding to go home only to be subjected to Sir Mustanser\’s saqueel Urdu and dastan of naqaam ishq. But boy o boy, when left on her own Farwa can make the best of any boring situation. This scene was as funny as was the previous one weird. Farwa k andaazay :). Sonia Hussain is a brilliant performer and she is totally nailing this character. This scene was sheer pleasure.

It was strange to hear about Sir Mustansar\’s naqaam ishq, I didn\’t see him to be the \” lover boy \” type, even in his youth but he does teach literature so it shouldn\’t come as a surprise that he did fall in love once. Also all these characters are so unpredictable, you never know what to expect from them. I thought Googi was truly in love with Farwa and would be heart broken to hear about her marriage instead as it turns out, it was his idea to begin with. None the less, his discussion with his friend over Farwa\’s text was really fun \” Ager abhi naashta ker rahay gain to dair say uthay hoon gay…\”.

I didn\’t pay much attention to the use of color in this drama up till now. Now that I think about it, it\’s simply brilliant. Junaid\’s obsession with the boring white and Farwa\’s love for the bright colors and shades says a lot about their personalities. Even Sir Mustanser wore a red coat today when he came to visit his inlaws, trying to look young I guess :). Moqay ki munasabat say rung select Keya sir nay.

All in all this was an entertaining episode with good acting and direction but there was a bit of a continuity problem. Farwa when she came back after the infamous dinner was wearing the same dress she wore in the morning when she went back to her parents\’ home. At dinner, she was dressed in a different outfit, she changed into the old dress to come home ? Other than that, it was a good episode, do share your views.
