Raqaas Has Some Terrible Parents

There are no slammed doors in Dilawar’s house. No loud music. No carefree laughter. Not even the simple pleasure of standing outside when it rains. Instead, everyone tiptoes. Hum TV Mausam

Mausam Episode 15

Sahi ya galat…? Right or wrong…? Who’s to decide? There is a tried and tested trope in Pakistani dramas, from ever since I can remember, which goes something like that very famous Western: the good, the bad, and the ugly. Whether or not our dramas are in direct correlation with/to Hollywood...

A PLUS TV Pehchan

Pehchan Episode 19

So it’s been a year – one year of heartbreak, heart ache, deception, lies and breaking away from all of that to breathe again. So then what is stopping Laila from making a clean break? When a man can end a marriage with three short words and very little rationale and reason, what is keeping her bound...

Hum TV Shanakht

Shanakht – Episode 4 - Reality Checks.

While prepping dinner a few weeks ago, my ears started bleeding from constant rhetoric and bad news running on TV from every part of the world. So, I switched the channel to HumTV, reminding myself that there will be nothing good to watch anyway. While paying little or no attention to the screen, Shanakht...

Hum TV Mausam

Mausam Episodes 13-14

“Aap uss ladki ko ab tak yaad kartay hain?” Haan, Saman, kyuki woh ladki tum ho! After twelve long episodes, it seemed Mausam needed a timeout, perhaps, like Bashar Momin (side note: Bye bye Momin, too bad there’s no Goya in that picture). After gun-gaooing (and there has been a lot...

Hum TV Rung

Rung Hum Sitaray Review Episode 12--14

So the respectable and surely the best in eyes of Sania, Dr. Azhar has made his entry and Sania is spell bound by his miraculous surgeriesand machine-like work ethic. Reasons to hate Sania (started from ep. 12): – What type of mother and wife is she? In front of Zafar and her kids, she’s...

A PLUS TV Pehchan

Pehchan Episode 18

Um, ok what just happened here? Did our hitting it out of the park homerun drama just turn on the lead with zulm ki inteha? Admittedly, it’s not as artless as this one, but I thought that there was a serious disconnect here. Laila’s mom has always been trotted out to play the appearances card and as...

ARY Chup Raho

Chup Raho : episode 1 review

From the first episode this has all the hall marks of good thriller. A fast paced narrative revealed in the sun-bleached shades of a cold reality that makes you shiver even in the blinding Karachi heat. The episode opens with Ramin and her parents travelling from Pindi to Karachi for her wedding....

ARY Pyarey Afzal

Pyarey Afzal- Last Episode Review (Episode 37)
