Raqaas Has Some Terrible Parents

There are no slammed doors in Dilawar’s house. No loud music. No carefree laughter. Not even the simple pleasure of standing outside when it rains. Instead, everyone tiptoes. In Raqaas, Green TV’s latest exploration of honour, misogyny and domestic control, fear has become so thoroughly embedded in a family that

Mann Mayal- Episode 10 & 11 Review

With everything that we’ve seen so far, the lack of consistency in Mann Mayal happens to top my list of things that annoy me. I can’t understand if Mannu’s family is conservative or confused- and I can’t blame Mannu for feeling torn between these two extremes. These people declared...

Gul-E-Rana...Last Episode

The last episode went onair tonight and as is becoming Hum TV’s bad habit, they dragged the story for as long as they possibly could, wasted screen time with repetitive scenes and then ended it abruptly. The end felt rushed, it was the last episode, they tried to show Adeel’s transition,...

Gul-E-Rana...Episode 20

As always Feroz and Sajjal were impressive as Adeel and GR. Throughout these 20 weeks, no matter how bad things got, their performances and chemistry was the most important aspect of this drama. So now Adeel is completely dependent on others to fulfill his needs and that makes GR indispensable. The point...

Gul-E-Rana...Episode 18, 19

Once again really sorry for the late review, I am trying to be on time, hopefully from next week, my reviews won’t be late. Where to start ? Finally when GR was getting her life back on track, when everyone was able to see what a creep Adeel really is, pata nahi kis ki nazar laggi GR k sakoon aur...

Mann Mayal- Episode 9 Review

Kooki’s slurs weren’t effective in shaming Salahuddin and seeing the wasted state of Ifty’s father, he begged to stay. Kooki seized the opportunity to regain control of the household and demanded that Salahuddin would be working around the clock- during the day at the office and after...

Bheegi Palkein Review: Episode 15 to 18

Bheegi Palkein is our guilty pleasure as we return week after week in anticipation of the destruction of the tallest ‘ samaj ki deewar’ that separates Hasan and Mehrbano. However, in many ways the last few episodes have taken the pleasure out due to some unsavory events in the story-line. This drama...

Mann Mayal- Episode 8

Mann Mayal is fast becoming a never-ending Zulm ki dastaan. Although I’m a tad relieved we have thus far been spared thappars that have made a permanent place in our dramas. With Mannu channeling her inner diva, she seems to have accepted Mikael with all his faults since she feels trapped between...

Mann Mayal- Episode 7 Review

In her moment of weakness, Mannu reached out to the man responsible for putting her in this situation. If ever there was a weak man, Salahuddin surely deserves the title and then some! All is forgiven Asher- and all those other weak men we’ve seen in the past. Salahuddin has taken it to a whole...

Mann Mayal- Episode 6

There was a bit of a disconnect from where the previous episode ended and how this one started. I knew Mannu was destined to a mismatched marriage but there was a slight glimmer of hope that there was more drama coming our way after Salahuddin took a stand for Mannu. However, just like most stories,...
