The only person I truly felt for at the end of this episode was Ahmer. Although, it was quite apparent that Silla did not have any feelings for Ahmer but his love for Silla seemed so much more real than Adeel’s love for Silla. Right till the end I was hoping that Silla will change her mind but that was not meant to be! This was a very disappointing ending for me. Silla deserved better and so did Ahmer. Dil-e-Muzter turned out to be another one of those plays in which the other woman gets all the blame and gets punished too, surely she deserved to be punished but Adeel was equally responsible for everything that happened and he did not deserve a happy ending! The issue of Affan’s death was not addressed at all. Zoya never confessed that she was responsible for his death, asking Adeel to divorce her so that he could go back to Silla most certainly could not possibly make up for killing a child. Safina was completely missing from this last episode; it would have been more appropriate if the viewers got to see how she reacted.
This was obviously a “happy ending” in the eyes of the writer but I wonder how many viewers out there actually feel happy for Silla because I most certainly don’t. I still feel no sympathy for Adeel’s character because right till the end of this episode he kept on saying things which you wouldn’t expect from a person who is madly in love with a woman. I guess at the end of every play, a woman must go back to the man who has made her suffer for years because she still loves him (for some odd reason!) and of course also because he is the father of her child. If you are a genuinely good person, who has never wronged anyone you get punished in the end and you keep on sacrificing, the way Ahmer did. First, the poor man’s wife elopes with another man and now he loses the love of his life to a complete loser!
Overall, Dil-e-Muztar was a very engaging play right from the get go. The writer Aliya Bukhari managed to keep the interest of the viewers intact right till the end. Sanam Jung was great for a newcomer and I am quite sure that she will only get better with time. It can’t be easy playing the lead in your very first play but she handled it quite well. It was good to see Imran Abass on screen after a long time but I have to say that there were times when his acting failed to impress, maybe because the expectations were too high. Sarwat Gillani had to be the one who remained consistent throughout the play. She proved yet again that she is a very versatile actress. Rabia Naureen was also perfect as the annoying mother and later the annoying mother in law. Aijaz Aslam despite the flaws with his body language in particular definitely managed to score some points with me, mainly because his character was so genuine. Shehzad Kashmiri’s direction deserves special recognition and appreciation; he put his heart and soul into this project and it showed. Every single scene had been shot with precision. Dil-e-Muztar was a visual treat because of the direction and the picture quality. I would like to thank everyone who followed the reviews and took part in the discussions. The discussions here always make the drama watching experience more wholesome. So, how many people are happy with the ending? Did Adeel win any new fans with all his begging and pleading ;)
