This was  a pivotal episode, with some super intense scenes and I have to say it’s about time. I hesitate to call Moiz the scum of the earth but there it is ….it slipped out … I understand his greedy parents  but I had the impression he actually cared for Faraa well before she was declared wealthy Bakhtiyar Khan’s granddaughter and was actually very kind (if a little creepy) after Behroz died. Faraa is much younger than him and in a conundrum of a (non) relationship with Wali, so all he had to do was say:” hey I am there for you after the divorce “, nothing more. What the hell was that nauseating ring ceremony about? Err …..She is a married woman Moiz bas kar do . Oh and that ghastly ‘sort of proposal’,all he could say was “ Wali’s rich and I’m not “ like an extra from mean girls. Typical Tajamul, family and their materialism. Well done Ahmed Zaib for making us hate you, move over Khizar Hayat !

I can understand Wali’s anger at accidentally catching the little pseudo ring ceremony but he was more than that, he was incensed, threatening to empty his revolver into Moiz. I think beneath all that educated veneer there really is a Zamindar type lurking inside him. Forget Faraa, I was intimidated just watching this scene; being on the wrong side of Wali Suhaib Khan is no picnic. Wali’s awful threats made up Faraa’s mind but I have a feeling Wali was probably regretting his words as he drove home. I would like to say such anger is out of character for him but at the risk of repetition, he is essentially a feudal .Osman Khalid Butt has Wali in hand and is playing him like a well-tuned fiddle. The anger, the possessiveness, the regret are all the hallmarks of a very young man in whose life and love are slipping out of his control.

Faraa is similarly conflicted, constantly trying to win her mother’s affection which seems exclusively reserved for her brother Tajamul’s family. Roohi deliberately makes herself emotionally unavailable to Faraa unless Faraa obeys her implicitly. After losing her father so suddenly Faraa is insecure and weak but I notice she isn’t running into Moiz’s arms, it’s more like any port in a storm. We had a really fabulous comment about Faraa’s character from one of our readers and I echo it. Faraa is being pulled in every direction and our Angry young Man Wali is not winning her over by playing into the feudal horror fantasy she has of him. Remember “Mohabbat main Zabardasti nahi hoti “Wali?

Maya Ali and OKB are keeping this drama alive because quite frankly I am sick of Roohi and her family .WHY, WHY WHY do they stretch out perfectly good serials and stories to breaking point. Much as I love him Behroz Sabswari has the same style of acting whether he is Baseerat or Tajamul just the dialogues change. Similarly Sanam Saeed is following a well-trodden path but she has toned her character down to more of an emotional fool than the shrew Roohi had become. If Sanam keeps it up I think this Roohi thing just might work. I think we may see some development in Roohi’s character arc – we can live in hope. So Roohi has two servants and a driver and is paying for her niece’s needlessly grand wedding. I have seen such silly women in reality, always trying to win over their own family by sacrificing their own needs and the best interests of their children. Roohi lives in a little pond and thinks it’s the ocean.

I think I just love Arjumand’s character, when I grow Up I want to be Arjumand JI adore how this women refuses to be intimidated or play into any of Roohi and her chalaak family’s mind games. Hareem Farooq plays her like a queen dealing with thieving servants, just the right tone. She is not worried about sharing Wali’s love with anyone and is supremely above petty politics or turf wars. Watching this with my parents this week and my father said Arjumand is Khandani, not because of her wealth but because of her adab, adaab and ability to act like a lady in every circumstance. One complaint though, please would writers stop writing scenes about people missing breakfast; surely there are other ways of communicating unhappiness.

Next week’s promo was shocking to say the least. Funny as it is to see Wali drag Faraa out of her house in a fit of anger, it is completely wrong. I hope it’s a dream or a fear Faraa has. Typical promo department playing up the melodrama I guess? I don’t want to give lectures here (too late –say many) but forcing a woman to do anything against her will is not something we should be promoting. Though there is an evil imp in me that quite enjoyed Faraa getting what for – what is it about certain things that would HORRIFY us in real life but somehow look acceptable on screen? I keep thinking of all the Bollywood movies and romcoms in which the hero chases the heroine till she falls in love with him and now when I look back it looks like the nastiest kind of sexual harassment.

This was an exciting episode which moved the story forward. DeD seems well and truly back on track . I hope now we will see more Osmaya because Moiz is going to Dubai (thank  God) enough of the Roohi –Tajamul –Zuhra triumvirate a lighter note, I need everyone’s opinion: am I being too conservative when I think Piping on a jacket is not business attire?  . I so want to see Maya in something distinctive and pretty but so far her wardrobe have been pretty nondescript.
