Dastan Episode 7 Review

I think number 7 is a lucky number.. Well I don’t believe in it though but still the 7th episode was full of pluses and i could hardly find any minuses in it. It was pacy, Up to the point. The narrations didn’t drag and the most important part. It took them 7 episodes to be finally engaged… Yeah long time mate!!  :)

I would start with the 1st scene itself when Hassan proposes to Bano.. Bano kay expressions thorey say ajeeb lagay, fake i guess.. or maybe she needs a bit more control in her acting.. but there is something that i noticed and that was the perfectionst nature of the director/screenplay  when someone makes a historic serial . its not only important to make sure that Sets and the cast and the dressing goes accordingly but the accesseries have to match as well. Has any one of you noticed the jewelry that suriya and Bano or any other female actor wears? Brilliant stuff. So much attention has been given to small details. let it be the duppatta or the costume or the entire attire of the actors. The necklace, the earrings’ or jhumkas of bano or suriya khala really matched with the 40’s era or educate me.. ajj kal bhi kya yeh design chaltey hain ? i dont know :)

I have noticed that Suriya is turning out to be a much better actor then Sanam. may be its role. The Khalas Role has been portrayed by a wonderful actor, she is beautiful .sweet and knows acting, great job.

Certain things will never change yup you got that right. The whole Rishta process…. Larka kya kerta hai? naukri hai  kay nahi? baap ka karobar hai kay nahi . blah blah blah.. i really liked that scene because of a very personal reason i.e my parents are also looking for a bride for me  and i just couldn’t stop smiling .. Our traditions will never change, that’s what i said to myself. i remember SOMEONE  told me that the model of my CAR will decide kay Larki kis model ki honi chaheye  i guess its the same. Achi job hoo ya phir baap ka business sab kuch waisa hi tou hai  khair meri tension chorein,, i wont be publishing any add of my RISHTA here.. Otherwise we will have a RISHTA.com or should i? That sounds like a funny and a crazy idea though: D naa dont worry yeh dramapakistani hai koi shadi.com ki site nahi  let’s get back to the RIshta scene

The hesitation and the nervousness that was being shown when bibi asks for Bano is great and makes us remember our traditions but the most important scene was when Saleem speaks of marrying bano with Ram. 1st of all as far as my knowledge is concerned In Islam a Muslim woman or man CANNOT marry a Mushrik! There are no other questions about it! But what i don’t understand is…what made saleem think like that? And i guess this is the most important thing that Team Dastan Wants us to realize. Let’s not get into the debate of what’s happening in Pakistan right now. Target killings. Flooding and helpless Pakistanis while our elites enjoy and go out for lavish dinners as well as our government going on EURO trip…. the point is. Islam is a separate Identity and religion and is different in terms of culture. Had Pakistan not been created who knows we might have forgotten our culture or had our generations living with a mixture of hindusm and islam?

Something that needs to be applauded here is the veteran actor Qavi Khan’s performance. Brilliant and astonishing! Dastan has great actors in it. All these weeks we have been talking about Hassan and Bano and to some extent Suriya Khala only, but such is the class of our veteran actors ,like Samina peerzada or Qavi Khan or Saba pervaiz and rest of the characters that each single line they deliver they make their presence felt.

However!!! The highpoint of this week’s episode was the whole engagement scene :) yeah man, that was great! The sets were dazzling, the costumes, the jewelry and above all the background music,. Oh yes! This week’s episode should be watched over again and again.I think it must have required a real hard work to recreate the magic of 1940’s wedding, the whole attire of the bride and the relatives lots of costumes, designs are really not easy to achieve and that’s why i had mentioned it in my 1st review itself, that You haven’t watched anything so opulent, so magnificent like this in a long, long time on Pakistani TV screen. It’s not just body beautiful, but there’s soul as well.

The only weak point in this drama however is… the Hindu friend.. sawatri’s brother. bundle actor hai,, uss ka role kisi or ko deyna chahey tha.. too much over acting. Who said you MUST speak in boojpoori tone if you are to act a role of a Hindu???

Something that i am waiting for now is Mehreen raheel’s twist! :) Yeah I think most of us already know where she pops in and what’s her role..Thanks to our very own Face book page :) but i guess it will be fun to watch what goes on in the later episodes….
