OK guys I must confess that I am quite apprehensive on the choice of dramas that I watch. Therefore, when I first saw the promo of Dastaan, I thought oh no! Another serial based on the partition of India. Indeed, many serial and films have been made on this issue; some have been really good and some very boring. Thus I assumed this drama is not for me! Then suddenly yesterday I started to read Faraz’s positive reviews on Dastaan and thought to give it a go and watch it. Having watched only a few minutes of the first episode I realised what I was missing! This serial has many powerful dialogues which are delivered subtly by all the characters and I fell in love with the characters of Bano and Hassan straight away. They have given us some wonderful performances! Their acting is just fabulous, the facial expressions of both actors are just amazing and their style of delivering the dialogues is just unique. So thumbs up for both of them.
Anyway I just watched all four episodes in one sitting aur badi betabi se 5th episode ka intezar tha. And it was BRILLIANT and left me speechless.
There were many lovely scenes in this episode. Once again I would say the dialogues struck me. Therefore, well done to Samira Fazal for writing such good dialogues.
Everybody has their own preference however; I would like to mention few scenes that I have really enjoyed watching in yesterday’s episode.
I believe the best of the best was the scene in which Bano begged her father to allow her to join the Muslim league. I was speechless while listening to Bano’s flawless words; I thought for a second that her father was going to slap her. But I was amazed when her father replied: ‘Meri taraf se tumhein ijazat hai beti! Tumhein kasam hai hamari tarbeeyat ki, jab jab zarourat pade…palt kar hamari taraf mat dekhna! Kar jana jo jo ek musalman aurat ya mard deen ke liye kar sakta hai! This scene was sooo emotional and so heart touching.
Another beautiful and full of suspense scene was the one in which Bano said to her brother: ‘Allah mere maa baap ko salamat rakhe! Un ke hote hoye mujhe aap se ijazat lene ki zarourat nahi!
I also loved the scene when Hassan smiled at Bano from the door. It was such a relief to see that they were back togetherJ
Finally, I am quite impressed with the supporting cast. Saleem’s character is acted really well by Ahsen Khan. The later really had the courage to have accepted such a negative role and has done justice to it. Another character which I am really going to hate is the one of Mehreen Raheel. It is funny how most of us are already hating her, even though she has not yet made her appearance in the serial. Therefore, thumbs up for Mehreen for having the courage to play the role of the person who will rip apart the love of Bano and Hassan. Well this is only my assumptions let’s see if I guessed it right……….
