When I write this piece I am filled with mixed emotions; it’s been a while since I have been writing reviews, every week I have to come up with new stuff, get into tiny details and write about something that clicked me. However this week’s episode was special. It was different, every scene, every act was something that left me spell bounded, I don’t know what to write about really, should I talk about the interactions between fawad and bano, or the 1st Halal Date of Suriya and Saleem, or the heated discussion between congressmen and muslim legues or above all the Brilliant dialogues this episode had. It’s really hard for me to comment on such a flawless episode.
I will be honest, I dint get time to watch the episode on time. So I decided to watch at my office, I thought I will watch it and go home and write a review. But can you guys believe it? I have to submit a feasibility report in the next 2 hours and I am writing a review for Dastan Episode 3. This week’s episode was amazing and what made it wonderful was fawad as well as the supreme dialogues. I had been openly criticizing that we need dialogues and 3rd weeks was full of that.
Episode 3 worked like magic because of its gripping dialogues and acting. The journey, right from start to end when they show glimpse of next week’s episode, keeps you on tenterhooks. I saw it on facebook, the kind of response 3rd episode has been getting and it’s humongous.
From my point of view there were bunch of scene that can be discussed but I will keep them to a minimum. The initial scene and the dialogues between hassan and bano.
Hassan: ik dafa app ghair tou keh dain phir wada mein phir app ko kabhi nahi bulaoo ga.
Bano: mujhey kuch nahi kehna…
Hassan: Keh tou diya!.
Brilliant!!. Fawad is bundle of talent.infact Fawad is the life of the show. You’re bound to run out of adjectives to describe his performance. I am sure everyone agrees to it or at least toa larger extent that even though Bano is the main protagonist of this serial ,Its Fawad who is actully doing the real firework, infact Fawad has done such a wonderful job that each scene he walks in, he steals the show. You can’t stop admiring his charm his expression and dialogues delivery. Let it be the passion that he sparks when he talks about Pakistan or the mischievous smile he has in his eyes when he interacts with bano, this is something that only an actor of high caliber could have delivered. And I think the credit goes to the director for taking a brilliant actor out of Fawad.
The next scene that actually cut my heart into pieces was the discussion in which everyone was talking about Muslim league being the future of Pakistan “Agar pakistan mazboot howa to hindustan kay muslaman per bhi beja zaydti nahi hogi”. I felt so ashamed, what are we doing with Pakistan? I am sure all of us have read in our Pakistan studies about the elections of 1946, cabinet mission, 2 nation theory but to watch it on a TV screen is something different. It’s so fascinating to see the passion that our fore fathers had. However something that was really really different in this episode was the small documentary shown during the drama. Have we ever witnessed something like this before? I havent. Amazing. Or I should say, stroke of a genius, right time, right emotions and perfect execution. Brilliant and fantabolus.
Like I mentioned before Episode 3 was power packed with brilliant acting wonderful scenes and great dialogues. What made me smile the most was Suriya and Saleem’ 1st Halal Date at the river :) Gosh was it really like that back then? Oh come on. A husband and his wife meeting for the 1st time and that too ALONE?? Gosh I can’t actually stop laughing. Gosh what if they had a time machine at that time and they could have taken a glimpse of future? Gosh man. It’s been only 63 years and the world has changed at an unbelievable pace. But I seriously cherish that. I think that was good. I wonder what bano would have called me or any other guy from our time if she would have looked at our KARTOOT . She called her own Brother Chichora for just meeting his own Wife ALONE: p
Samira you are brilliant mate! I am speechless, I was asking for stars and you gave me Moon! Thank you for giving us such a classic to cherish, I seriously believe everyone should watch Dastan.its a magnificent serial ,an achievement for Pakistani Television. Just when we were all losing hope, just when people were really thinking if Pakistan’s existence was a mistake, Dastan comes as a fresh air. Its gives us hope and tell us the key to success, just like Hassan’s mother says. “Hum sab machine kay chotey say purzay hain. Agar her purza theek kaam karey to machine khud hi theek chaley gi”.
