Wonderful episode and I must say that the pace is extremely brilliant in daam.I think after Malaal and Vasl, Daam will be another achievement for Mehreen, Sometimes I can’t stop praising her and feel what bundle of talent she is. Daam is a wonderful story with good acting by everyone.
However Episode 4 made me raise my eye brows in couple of scenes and I will surely talk about them, I am not criticizing Umeera Ahmed, I know the story might have been twisted, but sometimes when I look at Umera ahmed’s writing I don’t find hope. I feel as if the world is a horrible place to live in. and there is no ray of hope. Let it be her novel “Man o salwa” or her serial Meri Zaat Zara e Benishan” I find them being targeted to a certain class of viewers we have. I mean come on, they don’t have the money to make a biryani in 6 months but their daughter is going to a medical university, even if she is on a scholarship that doesn’t mean there aren’t other misc costs associated with her fees? Or the mamoo bears everything? That particular scene was very very hard for me to digest. Or enlighten me , do we really have such poorness in our society, but then again the brilliant direction of Mehreen came into play and she made me more thankful to the almighty that Alhamdulillah I am better than most of the people.
I really like the character of the father and his acting. Just like a helpless man he does make plans but there are no executions to it. And trust me such characters do exist in our society “ jis ko paray paray khaney ki adat hojaye phir uss ka kuch nahi hosakta” this is what my grandma used to say.
I liked the Scene where Mamo talks to his sister and tells her he is having a khatam e Quran at the masjid and then starts showing off how much religious he is. Hypocrite and using religion to own use. Our society is full of such characters, and this makes me notice another thing. There are actually 2 characters doing the exact samething but in different scenarios. Mamoo of Zara who supports them as well as looks after their issues, as well as maliha’s dad who is looking after his sister as well, the idea is the same. I wonder if both of the stories will link somewhere in the later episodes.
Daam is a wonderful serial to watch, it’s very pacy and talks about the character that have been taken straight out of real life “with some reservations to the script” oh btw I would really really like to praise the acting of Zara’s Elder sister” Asma” brilliant acting, it’s a delight to watch her act. The way she portrays a working class lady is wonderful, the helplessness and the pain that she emoted in the previous episode where her rishta gets away, was wonderful. Pakistan is full of talent and she is one of the rare gems we have. Brilliant job girl, keep it up!
