After the usual hectic Eid this episode was an easy way to relax on Sunday. The story moved satisfyingly forward, with Murad finally managing to convince his mother to go and see Umaima’s family and ask for her rishta in a respectable, sensible way and Mr Haseeb realised just how greedy his sister Sajda Baji is, when she openly asked for a large amount of dowry .The Umaima /Murad track is working really well. It is such an innocent, guileless romance that I cannot help but cheer it on .Their accidental meeting at Umaima’s friend’s engagement seemed to seal the deal in Murad’s heart and kindle a little spark of excitement in what up until now had been a one sided attraction .Umaima is still hesitant because she still feels herself bound to her lumpish cousin Mushtaq but cannot help reliving her moments with Murad.
There seemed to be a pointed cross generational disconnect between parents and children in this episode. Not one family seemed to be able to bridge this gap , all the parents seemed to deliberately ignore their children’s feelings .If it was up to me, I would introduce Mushtaq and his greedy mother to Deeba and her large jahaiz ….A match made in heaven ! Poor Deeba is still obsessed with Murad but pinning her hopes on her huge inheritance, even though her Mother reminds her that there are other rishtas she could consider.
The third track of Murad’s childless sister Rehana also moved on a pace. Rehana had asked her husband if he could persuade his Mother to allow them to adopt a child. I really liked her husband Irfan’s attitude which is not as rare as people think. He reassured her that his other brothers had children and that he was happy as they were, besides his Mother would never accept an adopted grandchild. Rehana and her husband seem to have a very strong, open relationship .Something I wish was shown more often on screen. Again Yasra Risvi (Rehana) was a pleasure to watch on screen. Her glee at finding Murad openly rejecting Deeba’s rishta and the way she wheedles her Mother into listening to him where a delight . The little scene where between Murad and Rehana where he tells her about Umaima was so well done, it really reminded me of my own brothers.
One of the best things about this week’s episode was the way Mr Haseeb broke off Umaima’s engagement to Mushtaq, I was so afraid it would be dragged out, I clapped when it actually happend. Bechara Murad however is very unaware of this sudden good fortune and still spinning like a kebab in a BBQ since Umaima told him about her engagement at college. I almost wanted to pick up the phone and say, dil pe mat le yaar ,it’s never going to happen . I had fully expected Umaima’s Father to throw a fit and throw Murad’s family out when they unexpectedly brought turned up at the house but both Mr Haseeb and his wife were polite and perhaps a little flattered at the interest in their daughter. From the promos we can see Umaima is going to marry Murad and I am looking forward to watching how.
