Abay deol ka Ek hi naraa.. Zindagi na miley gi dubara… before I start with the review, let me express my disappointment with HUM TV, this one particular ticker of the Indian Show ( simi select’s ) during Coke kahani, was the most annoying for me. When we have such wonderful Shows like Coke Kahani, why telecast other programs on Pakistani TV channels.
A few week’s earlier, Maria pointed out the beauty of Coke Kahani, Which is the fact that you can play this story in any part of the world, be it in America, Europe, Asia etc and the narrative and characters are universal, and so are their underlying emotions. There is so much to like about it.
This week’s episode was kind of slow for me in terms of story progression; nothing much happened though apart from the arrival of Maya at the end, there was nothing much to talk about ,however the star of today’s episode has to be Ahmed Zeb. Aka Rayaan. So let’s just talk about him and his attitude towards life.
What I love about Coke Kahani is , that it has characters that are real, that have been taken straight out of life, Rayaan is just another young Pakistani, who is frustrated at what’s going around him, ghar mein betho tou youtube aur cellphone band. Bahir jaoo tou rastey band, movie per jao tou lambi line for the ticket( oh I feel ya rayan, I had to postponed my plans of talash because it’s all sold out) , aur jab bari aye tou line tor ker koi dosra bharam baz ghuss jaye :) . aur jab koi kaam kerney kay liye bahir jaoo to show to everyone that he is also USEFUL, to sara chance traffic jam ki waster hojaye :) banda karey tou kya karey.
But to be honest what I really like about this deadly combo of ahmed/yasir is the way they approach at the solution. i.e. taking small steps within your own self will start the bigger cause of Change. for instance , itna lamba chora bhashan about Pakistan mein rakha hi kya hai kay baad. Rayaan sb drinks coke and throws the empty bottle on the sea side ;) which in a way a lesson to all of us. kay bhai pehlay chotey chotey kaam tou theek kero, barey maslay khud hi theek hojain gay :)
However the best scene of the episode has to be the conversation between Rayaan and his father on the dinner table, oh yeah man that was sweet. There was a time when I would constantly hear the same things over and over again from my father “ Kuch soucha hai kya keroo gay? her waqt awara gardi kernay say kuch nahi hoga, kab tab apney nikammay aur fazool dostoo kay sath ghoomo gay” and I was like challo bhai phir say start. Even I used to think at that time kay pata nahi sarey baap aik jaisey hi q hotey hain :) however over the years I realized that it’s the same for every father and son. For me Coke kahani is special because it explores the lovely relationship of Father and son. The dialogue “humey iss baat ka pura yakeen hai key tumhari nazroo mein humari izzat kabhi kam nahi hogi” that was sweet!
So a huge “Thank you” to Ahmed sb, for depicting the wonderful relationship between a father and a son with so much conviction. And the reason why the it sounds so real is because both ahmed sb and yasir have given their own flare and point of view to it J yasir :P I hope your father doesn’t ask you those questions anymore because with Coke kahani you have made your father proud.
Not to forget the scene where mutamin imagines nusrat in the college as yash chopra heroin chandni :P haha now that’s imagination! :P
Sometimes I fail to find adjectives for MJ, Mehreen has this special quality to convert an ordinary scene into a brilliant one , let it be the seesha saaf kernay wala bacha , or the desi khanay ka shot or the coke key can ka shot on the sea view. Every single frame speaks out MJ’s Creativity.
With the entry of Maya this week, the show only promises more pace and more tongue in cheeks dialogues. Bring it on Coke Kahani!!
