“Aaj….. Aaj ek Haseen aur baant loon…. Aaj ek Dua aur mang loon….Aaj ek aansoo aur pee loon… Aaj ek Zindagi aur ji loon…Aaj ek Sapna aur dekh loon…..Aaj….. Kya pata Kal Ho Naa Ho!!!”
yeh line sun ker “ Kal ho na ho” yaad agai na? :) . I would say. Coke Kahani dekh ker mujhey bhi Kal Ho Na ho yaad agai. The other day I was thinking that I should write a drama and thought I should even direct it :P and then thought I should even produce it, because the kind of story I wanted to write wouldn’t be something our channels normally likes to show as it wouldn’t be of the regular kind that we see on the TV . Saas baho ki story ya Religion ka heavy dose for which you have to be careful when talking about. Or the ghissa peeta formula of 2 sister’s rivalry. I would opt out for something fresh. Something on the lines of Dil Chahta hai and kal ho na ho. Something that you would watch and feel good about. Something that stays with you even when the show has preceded.
Bang comes Coke Kahani. And I say to myself, here goes my idea of drama writing. J . Where did coke kahani come from? I wrote a post about 2 weeks ago and was dreaming if MJ show will also be added to the Clash of titan weekend and that’s exactly what happened. Clash of titan they came from behind and took a giant leap J
Coke kahani is the story of Faisal Rehman, who is struggling financially and personally, on a professional level. His Restaurant “ Alfanso” ( naam bara chun ker rakkha hai waisey) is under heavy debt and he is thinking about selling it. On a personal level, despite being married, he lives a bachelor’s life due to separation between him and his wife “Sonia Rehman” who lives in FL with his Daughter “Syra Yusuf”
The Story unfolds with syra yusuf’s visiting him for a week. And later discovering that the life of his father is in a complete mess. The restaurant is not doing well with Faisal Rehman nearly going bankrupt and is filling for chapter 13. After looking at the situation, Syra changes her mind and announces that she will not be going back to the US.
Witty, Sharp, crisp and to the point, that’s how I would like to describe Coke Kahani. Being produced by Coke. The show has all the right ingredients that makes it a fun , feel good and lively entertainment to watch.
Remember that Indian Advertisement of COKE with the tagline “ Ghar pay party hai kya??” :). That’s how this show is. It’s a festival, a party, a grand celebration of life. but more importantly its the celebration of shared meals with family and friends, which is also the part of Coke’s campaign.
Enough has been said about the versatility and creativity that Mehreen Jabbar poses as a director and Coke Kahani doesnt fail to impress you either. It has MJ signature written all over it. The reason why I have always enjoyed MJ Shows in the past, let it be Vasl or Daam, is because of the pace her show proceeds with. I also like the fact that this show is of 30 mins each with only 13 episodes :) and I am hopeful that this will keep the story crisp with brisk pace.
Coke Kahani boasts of many supporting characters; however the one that leaves a strong mark is Maheen rizvi. She is a treat to watch, and her acting has gotten stronger with every show. Heres an actor to look in the next episodes.
Coke kahani is my kind of story, my kind of drama. It does not have long emotional athiyachar scenes. Doesn’t drag a second (because it’s an MJ SHOW) however what took me by surprise was the writing. The show has been jointly written by Mohammad Ahmed Sb, and Yasir Rana. While there is no denying of the fact that Ahmed Sb is a supremely gifted writer, Its Yasir whose writing has really impressed me. His story is Fresh, Energetic and is like a breath of fresh air amidst the daily dose of rona dhona we get from our TV shows.
So if you are a Dil Chahta hai kinda of Viewer like me,this show is for you :) watch it for the sake of pure 30 minutes of Mehreen Jabbar’s Magic!
The clash of the titans couldn’t get better!!
