The love triangle has been formed; Ashraf, Irfa and Hammad. The trio have been Blinded by love, love makes fools out of us all and it defies all logic and reasoning. This is exactly the case here. Ashraf is still under the impression that with time and a little effort he will be able to convince both Professor Sahab and Irfa and for that purpose, he is trying everything his friends suggest. Unfortunately for him, all of them are jahils like himself, so their suggestions are of no use. Hammad is rationalizing his actions by arguing that he has a ” plan ” .When he clears his CSS exams, he will get a new house and will take Irfa and move there ” but that plan has a number of ” ifs ” , ” thens ” , ” buts ” and ” maybes ” attached to it, so most probably it will not be as easy as he may think. But he refuses to listen to his head. Irfa is pushing him to send his mother to her house with a marriage proposal, this is gonna make things very difficult for him and very interesting for us :) Again, Irfa is also in love. But, her logic and condition is understandable. She has never met an actul ” jahil ” person like Ashraf, she has never been suppressed so she has no idea, what thats really like. She has very romantic notions about her future with Hammad. In her head, Hammd will be her shield, her protector and he will take care of everything. As young, emotional, inexperienced and naive as she is, for her Hammad and his affection is enough to guarantee a happy future.
Ifra and Hammad feel they are bound to eachother since they have made a promise…but they are ignoring the simole fact that Ashraf Munir is not gonna move out of theri way gracefully. Out of all the people Hammad knows his brother well enough to know that he hates him. After the shopping, Ashraf tried to belittle him, even his side kicks joined him, which goes to show how insecure Ashraf is as a person.
Ashraf Munir along with his sidekicks is a force to reckon with…you can never say enough for this person. I have said it before, writer Afifa Mohammad deserves a huge round of applause for keeping this character so entertaining, there is never a dull moment. This guy is a gunda, a bully and at the same time a lover boy. He only listens to those who say ” yes ” to him, anyone who dosen’t agree with him, is not worth listening to. The writer has created these layers brilliantly, there is a perfect balance. We hate him when he hurts his sisters but we cant stop laughing when he sees Irfa everywhere ( but in reality he is staring at a guy ), the whole shopojng spree and then telling Irfa about the price of his outfits ( the ones that are ” tang ” and he can’t breath in ). He went on a shopping spree, in an attempt to impress Irfa but Deep down he knows its not the dressing and presentation but the education and character that people like Professor sahab and Irfa prefer, but he can only buy clothes and not sofistication and culture.
Saira is walking on eggshells. She is a smart and intelligent girl and knows Ashraf is only looking for an excuse to put an end to her education but no matter how hard she tries, things keep getting more and more complicated for her. That phone call was purely accidental but it landed her in trouble. It scene also said a lot about Ashraf’s mentality, how low he can possibly go. At this point I am concerned for her, she is a strong and determined young woman but Aibad’s attentions could make her situation really bad. Her situation strikes a cord with the viewers cause people from troubled homes don’t find it so easy to adjust in their universities or work places. Its not easy to make people understand where you are coming from, what problems you are facing at home. This is exactly why Saira is being misunderstood as ” arrogant ” and ” rude ” when in reality she is being careful and cautious.
Professor Sahab is a sensible man but his love for his daughter is clouding his judgement. Only his wife can see things for what they really are and she can also understand things will not be easy for her daughter even if she marries Hammad. Specially after Ashraf blocked their way to make a point, that should have been a wakeup call for Professor sahab.
Khadija is perhaps the most sensible and mature person in this entire scenario, she has accepted her divorce and is trying to move on. She has emerged as a stronger person, the only one in the house who openly sides with Syra and supports her. She has stopped thinking about herself , which is unfortunate but under her circumstances perhaps its the most practical approach for her. So, it makes the tussle between Hammad and Ashraf all the more bizarre, they have three young sisters but noone is thinging about them. We can understand why Asharaf is doing this, he is not mature and responsible enough but what is the matter with Hammad ? He is suppose to be the responsible brother but ever since he has fallen in love, his own love life has become the priority and his responsibilities towards his family have taken the back seat.
The writer has done a fabulous job at characterization, I can’t praise that aspect enough. She has captured the psyche of each and everyone of the character really well. Yes, this drama is a complete package but its particularly the realistic approach of the story, the empahasis on the dynamics of this family and the characters which is making it a success.
