Just when things were finally looking up for the family, Saira was married, Ifra was expecting and Hammad topped the CSS exam … the unthinkable happened…Hammad died. In a matter of seconds their world was turned upside down.
Hammad’s death was an accident but it raised many questions, the circumstances made Ashraf a suspect, his father an eye witness and left Ifra confused about what really happened.
Episode 24 showed a family devastated due to the loss of a beloved brother and son, the plight of a pregnant young widow was heartbreaking, episode 25 dealt with the same issues, while 26 and 27 introduced us to Shibli played by Shafqat Cheema. Up till now, Ashraf was the bad guy but now we are introduced to the real villain. Shibli is the business rival of Muneer Ahmed, they have a history together and apparently it was only Ashraf who could control this monster, scare him and protect his family from him. Now that Ashraf is behind bars, Shibli is all set to grab this opportunity to take his revenge. He is not a guy who plays by the rules. Unfortunately he has also crossed paths with Ifra and now his desire to take revenge has taken a new direction. He wants Ifra. The writer has taken this opportunity to show the contrast between Shibly and Ashraf. They are both in the same line of business but Ashraf was never accused of harassing women, he was a man who followed some rules, Shibli has no honor.
Ifra is in a sad state, her life has taken an unexpected turn for the worse and she is not in a proper state of mind anymore; that is why she insisted on living alone when her mother suddenly had to go abroad. I don’t understand the logic behind her mother’s decision, in her words , she was trying to convince Ifra to move back in with her inlaws but Ifra refused. She did not wish to go back, so her mother left her pregnant daughter alone, clinging only to the hope that Khadija would be regularly coming to visit her. This didn’t seem right , does Ifta have no other relatives ? No chachha, mamo, khala, phoppo, why did her mother leave her alone like that ? And why did Munir Ahmed not send his wife to live with Ifra 24/7 ? Particularly when everyone in the Muhalla knows that she is alone in the house, it is not safe for her.
Saira and Sufiyaan are still in an awkward phase, Sufiyaan is worried about Khadija but he lacks the same concern for Saira, at this point it is hard to say f this marriage has future.
Now that Hammad is dead and Ashraf is behind bars, Jawad is the only man left in the house along with Munir Ahmed. Rubab is relying on him to support her and the rest of the family, so far she has been a weak character, someone who was not given as much screen time as her sisters but this experience has made her mature. Now she knows her parents need the support of their daughters more than ever and it would be very selfish of her to get married and move away.
It was a smart decision on behalf of team Bhai to shoot this drama in ” Androonay Lahore “, the feel and aura of the play has completely changed due to the location and both Ashraf and Sufiyaan’s homes also add to the charm of the story. It is almost like they are as much a part of the drama as any character. The huge wooden doors, tang galiyaan, the colorful Windows make you feel like you have entered a different time period altogether.
Now the big question is whether Munir Ahmed will forgive Ashraf and if he would be able to come back home ? If that happens would we see a different Ashraf trying to make amends for his past behavior or will we see the same man, blaming everyone else for his actions ?
