Bhai…Episode 20-23

The story is moving fast, twist after twist and as week’s go by it is becoming more interesting.

These 4 episodes covered Ashraf’s new lows, Saira and Sufiyaan’s sudden marriage and the news of the arrival of a new addition to the family.

By now it is settled that Ashraf can do anything to get what he wants, he can stoop low enough to kidnap his sister’s groom on the day of the wedding, just to stop the marriage from taking place. The man claims to uphold virtues like his own honor, family’s reputation but when it comes to getting what he wants, he is willing to gamble away the family’s honor. It is one thing to disagree with his father and dislike Ibad but what he did was absolutely senseless. Yes, he was able to stop the marriage but still his plan didn’t succeed completely. After pointing a gun at his father and putting the entire family through Hell, his family should know by now that he is a ticking time bomb. Munir Ahmed should take some concrete steps to make sure Ashraf never hurts any member of the family in the future, cause the way things are going, he is becoming more and more dangerous.

I was hoping against hope for Ibad to somehow miraculously reach Saira on time. Even though it was kind of obvious that he won’t be able to save the day, still for Khadija’s sake I really wanted him to beat the odds, unfortunately that wasn’t meant to be. In the end, I agree with his parents, marrying Saira wasn’t the best idea, her family is dominated by Ashraf and if he can get one sister divorced and another one’s fiancé abducted, who knows what he is capable of doing in the future. I just have to mention the kidnapper here…the one with the irritating, absolutely annoying laughter, man he was so unbearable. Why did the director not tell him to stop laughed and focus on the dialogues?

Saira and Sufiyaan’s marriage was not happily accepted by either of them but it was devastating for Khadija. She is the most sincere, sweet and harmless character in the entire drama but this was a huge blow, for a brief period she acted like it was ok and all she wanted was her sister’s happiness but when she finally broke down, that was heartbreaking. She was able to save her sister but for now, she has lost all hope for a happy future herself. Having your ex-husband suddenly become your favorite sister’s husband cannot be easy to accept.

It was no doubt very difficult for both the newly weds to face eachother but I must say it was Saira who handled the situation more gracefully, never once did she mention Ibad after her marriage. She accepted her fate and decided to move on, Sufiyaan was the older and more educated one of the two but his behavior was juvenile. How he kept mentioning and discussing Khadija was insensitive and then suddenly telling Saira, now that we are married I can use it as an excuse to go and meet Khadija…that was disgusting. You are married , have some respect for the new relationships you have formed.

Hammad and Ifra share some great onscreen chemistry, these two look so cute together and now that they are expecting their first child, it’s great to see the whole family’s excitement. Alas, like everything else, Ashraf had to make this issue all about himself as well. It was my right to give the family the first Waris , once again Hammad has taken what’s mine. Hello, news flash, in order to give a Waris you will first have to marry, and despite his mother’s repeated pleas, he is not willing to give matrimony a chance. So, the issue is baseless.

This drama is subtly touching some very sensitive and common social issues, Munir Ahmed and his wife are aware of their son’s mentality and they are pretty much convinced he is not gonna change. While discussing his marriage, his mother hints that they would have to find a girl from some other city, so her family would not know anything about Ashraf and she should also be from a humble background so she would not have any option but to compromise with Ashraf. It’s sad, how these parents are so selfish when it comes to their own son, they have daughters of their own and they would never want a son-in-law like Ashraf for themselves but they are willing to deceive another girl and her family, just so their son could get married. It is quite clear Ashraf is not gonna change, if anything he is only gonna cause more trouble in the days to come.
