The key points in these 4 episodes in my opinion were the conspiracy of Saira’s murder, the transformation of Muneer Ahmed, Jawad mustering up enough courage to speak to Ashraf about Rubab and yes Muneer Ahmed finally taking charge of the decisions concerning his own daughters’ lives.
Despite of everything that was going on Saira called Ibad, if you ask me that was a crazy idea. She knew Ashraf and her father were at home and as a result she got caught. Calling a na-maihram on the phone became just cause for ” Honor Killing ” in Ashraf and Muneer Ahmed’s eyes and therefore she was sentenced to death. Her father decided to carry out the penalty himself, strange if you think about how he is never actively involved in any matter involving his home and children but this one thing, he decided to do himself. Unfortunately honor killing is an issue not uncommon in our society and the writer has brilliantly interwoven this point in the story. While Asharf harassed Ifra himself, stalked her, bought presents for her, that is all OK, cause he is the man but if his sister, a woman falls in love with some one she is guilty of bringing shame and dishonor to the family and her punishment is death…its only her death that can bring the family’s honor back. It’s bizarre and disturbing how such trivial things can result in honor killings.
Saira survived but that one unspeakable act of horror also jolted her father out of his slumber and he realized how it was his leniency towards Ashraf that was destroying the happiness of his daughters. He decided to take matters in his own hands and finally grant Saira’s wish. Things between Saira and her father are looking good but the conversation between them left a bad taste in my mouth” aap mayray Malik hain ” aap nay mayray Goosht post k wajood ko apni kamaie say paal poos k baar key hai . Please, for God sake, women/daughters/children are not property…they are your responsibility, please get this one point clear.
I was really concerned the writer might get inspired by the current popular scenario of the brother-in-law harassing his Bhabi but Thank God, we were spared the agony and torture of having to watch such creepy situations. I really appreciate the writer for not introducing that sick twist in the story however Ashraf is getting jealous and rightfully so. He liked Ifra and now she is openly romancing his brother right infront of his eyes, anyone would be jealous and I have a feeling this jealousy would have disastrous effects in the long run.
The conversation between Hammad and Ifra shed some much needed light on the situation prevailing in their house. Ager baap apni bayteyoon ko tahafouz na day, to baytay un pay roab daalna Sharoo ker daytay hain. Muneer Ahmed was trying to treat Ashraf’s inferiority complex but he ended up making things worse, Ashraf knew only one way to solve matters and that was power, control and domination. He suppressed his own sisters cause he had so many insecurities, he couldn’t get an education so he made sure that neither will his sisters and Jawad. Now, when Ashraf is used to dominating others, his father is taking away his power and authority, how will Ashraf react and respond, will be interesting to watch.
Jawad was intrested in Rubab and Ashraf kicked him out, that was typical Ashraf response. On the one hand he is pushing Jawad to marry Saira but if he wants to marry Rubab instead, it is a threat to Ashraf’s precious honor. In his rage, he made a huge mistake. Jawad was his right hand man, kicking him out isn’t gonna make things easier for Ashraf. He is already fighting so many battles, right now he could use all the support he could get.
