This review is late, I am gonna try and catch up with the latest episode soon, if I miss something, please bear with me :)
Ashraf has been the most difficult person to deal with since the first episode but it was after Hammad’s nikkah that we got to see a whole new sneaky, conniving side…Ashraf couldn’t get what he wanted and since he has never learnt to take responsibility for his own actions, he blamed his family for plotting against him…now he is gonna take his revenge, if he didn’t get what he wanted, he is gonna make sure, nobody else get what they want either.
He couldn’t stop Hammad’s nikkah but he is gonna do everything in his power to stop Ifra’s Rukhsatti and his revenge doesn’t end there, he will make sure that everyone who shared Hammad’s happiness, suffers. So, naturally that makes Saira his next target. The girl who refuses to be intimidated by Ashraf Bhai, the rebel whose spirit must be broken. He overheard her talking to Ibad and if he wanted he could have caught her redhanded and could have told everyone what she was doing but no…he decided to be sneaky, why create a scene when the main goal was to hurt Saira . So, he arranged or rather informed everyone that he had arranged her Nikkah with Jawad. He knew Saira would panick and contact Ibad and that’s exactly what happened, that incident provided him with the opportunity to say ” I Told You So ” and rub it in Hammad’s face and get the nod of approval from his father.
The most interesting development in the story was Rubab and Jawad’s relationship, I did not see that coming but then that was a pleasant surprise. These two love birds have been in love for a while and they were waiting for the right time to ask for their elders blessings. Ashraf is not in the habbit of consulting anyone before deciding their fate, now Jawad is obeying his orders and is getting married to Saira but his heart is not in it. I have always thought of Jawad as a headstrong, independent guy but it turns out he has always felt indebted to his phoppos’ family, therefore he never had the courage to go his own way. Being Ashraf’s sidekick is also due to that particular reason. This twist is interesting for a number of reasons, if Jawad musters up enough courage to tell his phoppo about his feelings for Rabab, chances are ( under the circumstances) she will agree to this match and if that happens Saira will be free of Jawad and the trap her own brother laid out for her. Jawad will also leave Ashraf’s side and start his new life. That will be a blow to Ashraf’s ego.
While Hammad’s Rukhsatti did take place, it was the events that took place within his family and his reaction to them that was more surprising or rather shocking. He has been a pillar of support for his sisters through thick and thin, even even Khadija’s husband divorced her and later called to apologize, it was Hammad who suggested she should talk to him one last time. So when Ashraf beat up Saira and locked her in the store, accusing her of encouraging Ibad for bringing his marriage proposal to their house, it was Hammad whose reaction was most disappointing. He himself went for a love marriage but if his sister showed interest in a guy and he came with his family asking for her hand in marriage, that was treated like a crime. He refused to help her, siding for the first time with his father. He was supposed to be the voice of reason, but at such a crucial point in the story, we witnessed a whole new side to him. Education can only change us if we want to change, if we refuse to keep an open mind and if we refuse to accept things which don’t agree with our traditions, practices and lifestyle, then education cannot do much. Like the audiences Ifra was also surprised to see that side and it was her turn to be the voice of reason. She is a good influence on him, though she is new in the house and is emotional, she did try to do her part in saving Saira.
One thing which I found a little hard to believe was Ibad’s parent’s willingness to go to Saira’s house for the second time, after they had been humiliated by Ashraf , I didn’t think they would ever go back. The difference in the social status, financial background and most importantly in the mindsets of the families was more than enough reason for them to stay away. I wasn’t convinced when they gave in to their son’s request and went their for a second time.
I have to give credit to team BHAI, while most plays are busy presenting the villains as the good guys, team Bhai has done a fabulous job at keeping it real. Just because Ashraf had convinced himself of being in love, it didn’t change the fact that he is a gunda, a violent person who has no respect for women, he has no values or morality. Such people can never change and the damsels cannot tame such beasts.
